NGK IFR6A11 spark plug

    Is the NGK IFR6A11 obsolete? Are you guys opting for the Denso in its place or another NGK that took its place? I’ve always preferred NGK but I can’t find the IFR6A11.

    Also a question on Iridium vs non Iridium. The 2004 I had for 15 years did not call for Iridium and that was fine with me. I would prefer to change them on more frequent intervals than 100k. In my old way of thinking, I’m not visualizing that plug staying in like new condition for 100k miles. It was always so cheap and easy to keep plugs in like new condition. The 2004 I wanna say called for 30,000 intervals? Maybe 60,000? It was still running like a top at 335k miles when it was totaled.

    So I’m not opposed to not using Iridium, but I’m also a stickler on staying with what Toyota calls for whenever possible and the 2006 obviously calls for Iridium. If I use Iridium, I will monitor and replace as needed if that happens to be before 100k. The added price of Iridium makes sense if you get 100k. If I end up replacing more frequently, still use Iridium? I’m not knowledgeable enough to know if the Iridium is simply for longevity or if there are other properties and ratings that make it preferred.

    Given there's a thread on the TS forums from way back in 2006 with people looking for that plug, asking if it's obsolete, I'm going to say it's been NLA for a minute OR once again, Toyota had another typo in the Owner's Manual.

    I'm an NGK guy, but I ended up buying Denso from a local auto parts store, and used some 25% off coupon ChrisFix had at the time w/Advance Auto Parts and ended up getting them at a fair price. Important note about the Owner's manual for our 2006 VVTi version of the V8 below (typo alert).

    My advice:

    If you want to go with NGK for anything, go to their PARTS FINDER, click on Cars, Trucks SUV's, I did just that and it appears the part number has changed from "A11" to "T11". Note the "Fitment Notes" column here, they're saying it's the OEM equivalent design.

    As long as you're aware there's a massive problem with counterfeit spark plugs on scAmazon and fleaBay, and you don't order from those sources or any other place that sells/warehouses for 3rd parties, you'll be fine.

    Thank you. I missed the prior threads of people looking for that plug. I did see your prior stuff about the typo and also looked at the NGK site and saw the T11. Interestingly, Advance also shows a B11 when you search NGK IFR6A11.

    @Shifty, Regarding Iridium vs non Iridium, is longevity the main thing? Are you finding you are getting 100k miles? None of my cars have been new enough to call for Iridium so I’ve not ever been on a 100k interval. It feels long to my old habits

    I saw a few on TS, this is one of them.

    Iridium ... harder than platinum and ruthenium. Longer lifespan. Recommended by Toyota to use Denso or NGK Iridium.

    If Toyota and NGK both recommend iridium, take the hint :D

    whats your opinions on the Laser Platinum Plugs - PLFR6A-11
    is there any difference compared to the ILFR6T11

    Only reason i asked, just today i got an email from Rockauto and the platinum plugs
    are on closeout for $4.95 each i think. My truck is at 121200 and some change
    and it might be time to start thinking of changing them over.

    I want to say the platinum are 30k-50k mile plugs and the iridium are 60k-100k plugs? I assume the longevity difference is due to iridium being harder than platinum, from a material perspective?
