Trying to decide between the Nitto Ridge Grappler and Nitto Recon Grappler.

Looking at running 295/60/20 on my stock 2023 Platinum gunmetal rims. Tough decision but leaning towards the OG Ridges.

    current stock wheels and tires

I can only speak for the Ridge Grapplers
It’s probably the best tire I’ve owned. I’ve gotten 70k miles on each set on my 2020 Tundra. Zero complaints, and I’m pretty hard to please.

Can you comment on road noise? how about traction in snow/ice?

I would consider road noise low , and good in snow and Ice. But I admit I don’t do a lot of driving in snow and ice where I live. I also got lots of compliments from friends and coworkers on how they looked.

just throwing out an alternative for grins

save yourself a ton of weight, worse ride and consider the P-rated Cooper AT3 4s. They only weight 45 lbs but are still a full 33"

    also, made in USA

Here is mine on my truck I just got

I was really impressed with the Falken wild peaks at3. Better traction across the board, really quiet and great in the snow. Night and day vs the Nitto's as they were horrible in the snow and on dry roads.

OP to answer your question and not try and sell you other tires...my suggestion is the Ridge Grapplers. I have owned both tires you have asked about, and have no complaints about the Ridge's. Had a set on my 2017 and replaced my stock setup on my new 2022 with them as well. Road noise isn't terrible, the ride is decent, they perform well in all types of enviroments (sand, snow, mud, etc.) and they look cooler!

I respectfully disagree with this...yes I understand all the arguments, etc. but we really are talking minimal concerns for the average person which I am gathering from the OP that is the case here. No suspension talk, a fairly generous size on a stock wheel, etc. Now he told us he was trying to do any type of professional/hardcore baja or rockcrawling then yes I would steer him away from the 20's and say I agree...go 17 or 18 beadlocks.

OP again, I had 35's on a 20 inch rim (on my 2017) and there was plenty of capability for off-roading with that size wheel. I put 30k fairly rough miles on them without a flat, without any damage to the wheels, without any issues to be honest.

Thank you for the insight. But yes you are correct, I am not planning on doing much if any off roading. Simply just a daily driver that i want to add some beefier tires to make the truck look more aggressive.

you said you have owned both the Ridge Grappler and Recon Grappler. Any insight or feedback on the Recons?
Also now considering the BF Goodrich K02 as an option as well, saw a few Gen 3 tundras that look real nice with these tires.

Recons just weren't "aggressive" enough for the look I wanted, but I will say they were a great road tire...quiet, good wear, comfy ride, etc. I actually gave them to my sister for her pickup, she doesn't nearly do the off-roading I do so they work perfect for her use, just weren't for me.
As far as the KO2's I had some of those on a 20 inch wheel (my 2017 before the Ridge Grapplers in 35") and they wore very quickly (less than 30k miles) and were terrible on wet roads I wasn't a fan to be honest.

I have the Recons in 35x11.5 currently. No real complaints other than they're an E load but that's what I get for putting all terrains on a 20" wheel.

Ridge grappler. I ended up ordering a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T in 285/65 R20 which will go on my factory OR wheels but would have gone with the grapplers if it wasn’t for needing a 3 peak rated tire for those winter months. In Texas, the grapplers will work great. Which ironically is home to me. Headed back in a couple years :woot:

I have the KO2s on mine and I love them. Ride smooth and pretty quiet. Will stay with this tire after these are done.
