Ac and heater was working fine day before. Noticed after I turned on ac that after key is in and on it takes about 35 to 40 seconds before power goes to ac / heater head unit with the 3 knobs. No air comes out at all regardless of the position set on 3rd knob. 1- fan speed 2- cold hot 3- position floor, top ect

The fan works perfect on all speeds, cabin air filter is new. So the issue is zero air comes out. The recirculating button works and moves the damper closed or open . Im referring to the actuator door by the blower fan.

Ive heard the damper servos (2) near the passenger just right to the gas paddle are removed as a unit.

Does anyone have any ideas. I can R/R any part but dont want to waste my time replacing wrong part. I called my nearby toyota dealer and the service advisor said that weird if theres no air outbof any of the ventsm. He said that the damper servos on drivers side usually allow air to be bliwed out if atleast 1 vent .

    Help!!

I don't turn the heat/AC on until after the truck has been running a few minutes, and I always turn the HVAC off a minute or so before I shut the truck off. Works for me.

I've tried that. Like I said I can wait min 40 sec or a few min then turn it on and everything turns on. But NO air comes out of vents. None of the vents. As long as the ke6 is on position .

Bringing back an old thread...anyone have some experience with repairing this? My wife's 2011 Sequoia has been doing this for a while now. AC works fine after it finally starts, but there is a 30-40 second delay in AC after engine startup. The Sequoia has the 2nd gen Tundra style AC that is found in the Limited model (different driver/pass zones). I read on a different forum, that it may be the servos. Wondering if someone can give details on how to repair this, as I believe the dealer will want to remove the dash to access servos.

I had a similar issue in my old ranger, ended up being a 10 dollar relay. Id start there.

I am having the same issue. Lots of help here: I order the servo damper part from Sparks and should have it this week. Its going to be a pain to get to but way better than paying a dealer $1500.

    UPDATE 6-17-23:

Unfortunately, this replacement part did not fix my issue. I still have the HVAC delay at start up and no AC on the passenger side.
Took me about 5.5 hours. I could have done it in 4.5 but getting those damn gears lined up took me an hour of fiddlin’ around. That was the worst part.

I did notice that the servo motor(s) on the passenger side run several times after turning the truck off and I can near a rubbing noise like a door trying to close.

Time to order a code reader and back to the drawing board for me…

Dang, sorry that didn't fix your ac issue. This is helpful info though. I'll do a little more troubleshooting before doing the same. Thanks for the update!

I tore into the passenger side last evening. The lower servo on that side is definitely out of sync. I pulled that one off and the lower door flap (blocks off the heater core on the passenger side) works fine. Ordered that new servo and should have it by the end of the week. Will update later…

    UPDATE 6/23/23

Success! I replaced the lower servo on the passenger and everything is now working perfectly. No delay at start up and AC is now fine on the passenger side.
I tore the old servo apart and did not see any issue with it but it was definitely out of sync. My take is that if any one of the servos or gears get out of sync, broke, or off track your system will not work correctly. Broken gears or gear shafts mean you probably have to replace the entire HVAC box.

Thanks for keeping us updated on this! Were you able to isolate the passenger side with a code reader? Mine just has the delay, but blows fine on driver/passenger side once it starts working. I need to get down on the floor board and really listen to both sides to determine which side is bad on mine, unless there are codes that specify driver/pass.

I did not get a reader. I just watched the servos run after I removed the lower dash and could see that the lower one was not acting right.

I should add that this is the first thing I have ever repaired on three different Tundras I have owned. I replaced the water pump (and alternator - since I had things torn apart already) and spark plugs on my 2007 at 140,000 miles as preventative maintenance. Aside from brake, tires, and wipers!

where are the servos located at? Are they adjacent to where our foot would be. Just had this start happening to me this past week.

curious if a scanner from Autozone or something would work. I plugged my OBD in after it started running normally and no codes popped up

The HVAC box is centered behind the dash on top the floor. There are servos on the right and left side the control the air flow and temperature.

Only a couple hours for the passenger side work.
