    Hi All,

The 7.5 amp fuse for my 2010 Tundra keeps blowing. Prior to the fuse blowing, I measure about a 0.4 voltage drop between the battery voltage and the voltage measured at the interior dome light sockets. Is this a common issue with a likely solution, or am I going to need to tear apart the interior and trace wiring throughout the truck (ugh). Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Dome light in my 4Runner kept blowing intermittently. After a lot of intermittent troubleshooting it turned out to be the sun visor. The wires for the mirror light were shorting.

Does the fuse blow right away or is it intermittent. Hopefully it blows right away that will make it easy to figure out.

I have not pulled the visors yet. I will give that a look. It usually blows within a minute or two. Thanks for the feedback.

Here is a good troubleshooting diagram that someone had posted to my thread if you need it.

I ended up removing the visors completely for a couple weeks. That may not be your issue though.

Could be the footwell bulb on the driver side. The pos and neg on that lamp are about a centimeter apart and could easily touch if the bulb was removed or dislodged.

Make sure you check all of the interior lights. If one comes loose they can be a pain. Also, some of the dome light assemblies have metal reflector plates. If any part of the socket touches the metal it can cause some of the issues like you're experiencing. Did you happen to change any bulbs recently?

When I put in interior LEDS I had to remove these from the front lights, the larger body of the LED was shorting to the reflector and causing this issue. Also, the contacts on the overhead lights are very easy to push off the board, and this can cause shorting. I had to pull my overhead console and glue down the contacts. Still have issues with 1 side, and will probably have to replace the overhead console to fix it. Also went through 3 different brands of interior LEDs to find a type that didn't cause fuse issues.

Yes the LED’s are known to cause issues in the trucks….some sort of interference it seems. People who have replaced the third brake light with LED’s have had some really weird gremlins. Took me two sets of LED’s inside the truck to find a compatible brand. The first had some weird flickering and some wouldn’t turn on (they were installed properly). Most are not supposed to be polarity dependent but sometimes flipping them around worked…..anywho, all this say that some interior LED’s are known to cause issues.
