No Drill Collapsible Bed Extenders

Hi-

Getting ready for my annual dive trip to the Keys and need to to stow a sh*t load of dive gear in my bed. This was never an issue when I had my 2011 Double Cab with the 6ft-6in bed. I moved from 2011 Double cab to 2018 CrewMax 5ft-6in bed. The cab now has a ton of room, but I lost bed space.

I think the only practical way of gaining bed space is to go with a bed extender. My biggest concern with this solution is security at night when we stop at the hotel. I don't want to leave my tailgate down at night. (We could unload just enough gear every night so that my tonneau cover and tailgate properly close.) Ideally would like a bed extender that will fold up and stay attached to the tailgate when not in use.
I like the Xtreme Gate and Top Line versions. I don't like the idea of drilling into my tailgate. (Thinking about 3/4 plywood as a base plate?)

I liked the bed extender for my King Ranch, not only because it extended the bed, but because it makes a nice area to keep gear contained when it is inside the bed.
