No GPS Audio from phone

i have a 2015 sr5 without navigation. I assume my bluetooth is working properly because the truck will cut off the radio when i receive a phone call and allow me to talk. It will also do the same when i get a text, and even read me the text, or display it if stopped. My problem is that i want the GPS from my phone to interrupt the radio when i'm using google maps/waze, and i can't get it to do so. Bluetooth is turned on in the Waze app, and the voice directions work when it's not connected to the truck. Any thoughts?

 

For Waze, you need to change the setting to "Play as Bluetooth phone call":




I'm sure there's a similar setting for Google Maps.

 

For mine the audio source also has to be Bluetooth. So if I’m using pandora it works. If I use the radio it doesn’t. Also there may be a setting in your nav app for audio to play as a phone call. Try that for times when you are not using your phone for audio.

 

If on iPhone and using Google maps:
1. Go to Settings > Google Maps > Notifications > Google Maps Notification Settings
2. You are taken to Notification Settings but you want to click on the "<" (arrow back button on top left corner)
3. Under Getting Around go to Navigation > Play as Bluetooth phone call

 

My truck only work when I connected to my music player, while music is playing.

 

I dont have a "Google Maps Notification Settings" in the notifications folder under google maps settings, nor can i find anything called 'getting around'...

It's an older iphone 7, but my IOS is up to date...

 

You can get to it directly from Google Maps. Click your profile pic in the top right, tap Settings, then this:
