Truck has been starting just a little slow first thing in the morning over the last few weeks.

Not bad but can tell a difference. Starts kind of weak but Seems to smooth out after a few seconds

today about the same , but after sitting for a few hours i went to start it to go to lunch and it just cranked but didn’t fire. Took 4 try’s to get it started. Ran pretty normal after that.

yes - it is a ffv

Try to prime the FP a few times before starting (key to on position (not start), then off, on, etc). If that speeds up cranking time...may be fuel pump related. Unfamiliar with FFV sensors & issues, no help there.

Tried it this am and still seemed to start just a little funny. Smoothed out after a few seconds.

fuel mileage seems even worse than normal. Getting 10 mpg

Battery is first thing that comes to mind for the weak starting, though that wouldn't affect mileage. Maybe spark plugs too. How many miles?

I did go ahead and test battery and it is fine. A little over 1 year old

i have 240k on the truck but just put new plugs in a couple months ago

( other than the time it didn’t start) To me it’s more of a low idle/ fuel issue for first few seconds in the am. It starts but sounds like it’s about to die for a few seconds and then revs up normal. Thinking it’s the ffv issue. Maybe need a reflash? Although truck runs great and is smooth as can be. Poor mpg and that one no start issue

Not to belabor the point, but the battery can still be bad even if it's only a year. Was it tested under load?

At 240k - maybe the throttle body needs to be cleaned? Diff vehicle, but I had around 200k on a Camry I used to have and started having idle issues - cleaned the throttle body & it was right as rain.

Start with the simple things. Make sure battery connections are clean and tight. Air filter is clean. Etc. If the battery truly is good it could just be a loose/corroded connection. A few days ago I got into my truck and had absolutely no power. Everything completely dead and the battery is brand new. Wiggled the connections at the battery and it fired right up. Tightened everything down and no more problem.

I did get battery load tested at autozone. It’s not a weak/dead battery feel. Starter has plenty of power, motor turns over Fine
Recently wen through all the normal majntance stuff. Cleaned tb , new air filter

Had this happen again last night. Turned over for about 10 seconds but no start. Took 3 tries before it started. Started kind of rough but finally smoothed out

Based some searching here I am thinking it’s a ffv issue Thinking of taking it in for the updated flash unless anyone thinks it’s something different

mpg’s seem worse than usual also, and normally first start in the am is a low / weak idle for a few seconds before it smooths out

I’ll have to run by parts store and have them check. Would code throw a light? No lights are on

    A fucking lot.
My truck used to have a similar issue. I would go to start and it would idle very low and act sluggish. Turns out that I had barely any oil in my truck. Did an oil change and it ran strong again. Also replaced spark plugs too, so that might have contributed.

I'd have to lean toward the fuel pump issues noted many times on this forum. It "floods" the engine with fuel or doesn't send enough depending on the calculations the ecus are making for the amount of ethanol it is sensing. With a obd2 reader and the proper app on your phone you can monitor alcohol density and be able to tell if it's fuel pump related. May not be logical for you to purchase these things and it may be better to have the dealer check it. I went through this on my flex fuel Rock Warrior with 220k+ miles on it but mine acted different than yours. Mine had more of a miss or stumble during acceleration. But i read of crank/no start issues while searching for my answers that ended up being alcohol density related. Good luck and I feel worst case scenario you'll need a fuel pump or a fuel pump ecu.

I can't remember which one I bought but it was pretty inexpensive. I think it was less than $30 And I had/have the torque pro app that read alcohol density. Pretty cool that you can have a code reader for $30-$40 now days.

I'll see if I can find it and post a picture. It worked flawlessly

went by advance today and pulled a p1604 -startability code

also ordered a reader today that can hopefully read alcohol content soon

-is that mean i need a dealer visit for reflash?

Some have had success with a dealer reflash but it was a fuel pump replacement for me. I didn't have any codes though.
