I have a question, the check engine light came on this morning so I took it to my buddys shop and he plugged in his snap on OBD reader and it will not power up. I checked the 7 1/2 amp fuse under the hood for the OBD and it is good. Any suggestions?

Snap On reader should indeed pick the signal up so unless you want to confirm by going to AutoZone, Advance Auto....etc, you can make a few checks at the OBD connector to make sure you have proper signals....12vdc between pin 4(chassis gnd) and pin 16....that comes from the 7.5A fuse.

If you indeed feel good about the looks of the 7.5A fuse, I would still check that you have 12vdc on both sides of the fuse at their respective check points.

It tested good on his POV so I’m sure it isn’t the reader. Thank you for the info and I’ll give us a double check when I get home. My guts are telling me it’s an O2 sensor since I just filled up 2 days ago and have only gone through about 1/4 tank of the winter blend but who knows.

Ok so I have 12vdc from 16 to 4. No clue as to why his snap on reader won’t work. When it wouldn’t work on mine he plugged it into his dodge and it worked, guess I’ll locate another reader and try again.

I would stop into any auto parts store and plu theirs in. I've never seen an OBD issue like that.
