Odd, should the top of my oil dipstick have an O-ring?

I just noticed there's a notch at the top of my dipstick, kinda looks like there should be some kind of o-ring but, mine is missing if it's supposed to be there!

Ahh well, just had my first Tundra for a few months. I'll dig around and see if I can buy one by itself, hopefully, or get the dimensions for it!

So... where did yours end up if it's not where it should be?

An excellent question I cringe too hard to truly consider. I'm hoping it isn't somewhere in the dipstick tube that might end up getting pushed into the oil pan. It's never been there since I bought the truck. The top of the stick itself is pretty clean so I'm not really worried about dirt or water entry into my engine there at all, just hopefully the o-ring fell out, and not in!

If you have an Ace Hardware store nearby take the dipstick in there. They have them loose in bins.

Must be a dipstick o-ring thief. I noticed mine missing about a week before you posted this. Meant to ask on here but didn't get around to it. I did go to Autozone and we couldn't find one that was small/thin enough to insert so I thought maybe there was never one there... Guess I'll go find me one now.
