So I have a 2016 Tundra SR Double cab. I just got a cap for it with rails for a roof rack. I have a canoe I would like put up there. It's long. I would feel more comfortable with half on the cap and half truck roof. It looks like there are grooves on the roof with a trim peice on top. Are there OEM tracks that will go in there? If there are can someone direct me to a part number? Do I have to drill the roof or are there screw holes?

If there are not, what people recommend?

    Thank

    Don

Rhino rack sells tracks you can mount in the roof valleys. The link below will lead to the crewmax tracks but you'll find a set for your DC roof on that site. Requires some drilling and a strong rivet tool to mount. Read directions carefully regarding drill stops so that you don't mess up your side curtain airbags. You'll see posts on here full of warnings about the drilling but don't be afraid, I've done it to 2 trucks so far and no problems.

Just looked at their site and I don't see a model for DC. You may have to call them for the model number.

Rhino(and others) also sell mounts for cross bars that will attach without drilling.

I was in the same situation and what i did was just bought one Thule bar for the front, the kind that just goes on the door sill and i keep it in the back of the truck for when i need it. I marked where it goes in the door sill with silver sharpie. You don't want to drive around with a bar on the roof not being used, the wind noise is much louder than i ever would have expected.

x2 on the wind noise, I had a thule roof rack with the ‘aero’ bar rather than square and it was still obnoxious. I carry my 16’ glider around and haul lumber almost nonstop (builder) so removing wasnt an option.

I switched to sliding tracracs with front cantilever to get rid of the wind noise but that doesnt help you out with the cap setup. :notsure:

I had a subaru that I had OEM bars on that made absolutely no noise but as soon as I left that bar right over my sunroof on the Tundra without the canoe on one day I was blown away by how loud it was, with the canoe its not that bad though. I got the idea from a this thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/thule-roof-rack-installed.7527/, this guy used a wind deflector but since I dont use it often and it's easy to take on and off I dont see the need. In your case though maybe it would be worth it.
