My recently cracked, repaired windshield did not like the white rim trail and now a small crack is forming in that are at the base

the windshield is pretty beat as is, and i am going to replace it before winter, but will be doing lots of off-roading and camping this summer so i m just going to ride it out until late fall

Safelite through my insurance will replace it with an OEE (equivalent to the original/but aftermarket) for like 180$, but if i want the true OEM it jumps up to 1100$….. do i need to drop that dough in a windshield or can i go with the Safelite replacement, i have some electronics in there, with lane assist and cruise control, and the other features with the Limited trim and hope the OEE still keeps things working smoothly

    any experience with this?

I bought a cheap one from a local place. The quality between this one and oem is very noticeable, i would not go cheap again. Safelight is expensive, shop around

Stay away from Safelite period. Their installs are very sloppy at best. On the 2018 and newer, if there is any type of lift or leveling kit, they will not even touch your truck. Call your local dealer and they will tell you who does their glass work.
