I randomly came across a comment somewhere saying that the side curtain airbags can deploy if the truck sees too extreme an angle; something that may happen while off-roading. I know the pre-2014 models have the option to turn them off via the RSCA button. Should I be concerned about this, or is the truck smart enough to only trigger the side curtain air bags if it's actually going to roll?

I have a 2015 and am offroad almost daily for work. Lots of side slopes, twisting, fairly extreme angles. No airbag deployment so far.

I had a co-worker that hit a low berm at the side of a fire road at moderate speed, during a turn, and every interior airbag blew. That was a new Ford Raptor, a 2016 or 2017.

More recently, I know of a guy that did a fun jump in his 2nd gen Tundra, landed with everything intact... except all the airbags... and the surfaces those broke when they deployed.

And another guy with a 2nd gen did a low speed flop onto one side, with resulting airbag deployment.

I have *not* heard about an airbag deployment without some type of impact..., nothing related to merely being off-camber.

I've never worried about it and never seen it happen from merely being off camber.

The only thing ive seen on this is multiple articles and message board entries about the new chevy colorado zr2 side curtain airbags deploying on flat washboard dirt roads. Makes me glad I bought a tundra.
