Greetings all. I've had my 05 Tundra 4.7 SR5 since 08. Oil pressure has usually been at the 1/4 mark at idle. It has only hit the half mark a few times at 3000+ rpm. Now it only gets to about halfway between 1/4-1/2 mark. 225k miles. Any worries or suggestions?

Just for sake of curiosity, you do a lot of short-trip driving?
What weight of oil are you using, and is it conventional or synthetic?

Generally speaking, your '05 should having the same VVTi engine as mine should be around the same pressure, but I could see it being a tad lower if you were using a lighter oil than recommended. The earlier models were way more confusing and would sit really low. By the time they got to the '05-'06, they finally got smart and had all the gauges center near-middle for easy reference. There is a TSB out there about oil pressure gauges reading 'off', let me find it.

    Thank you for the reply.
Yes 90% of my drives are under 20 miles. Many under 5. I use high milage synthetic 5w 30. I know it does a lot better on the highway than city. Again, thank you

So, that is a great recipe for sludge and varnish, and I can show you some pics of how nasty it gets from other members whose trucks (like mine) were used for short-trip driving.

You're changing your oil based on time, not on mileage, right? Like, ideally at least once every 12 months?

Do you ever use anything to help break stuff down, any BG products, Liquimoly, Seafoam in the crankcase?

I haven't tried them but will. Yep, about every six months, miles or not
    Thanks
