I found out about these led halos through a Camaro rebuild and they look amazing. Has anyone gotten halos from oracle and installed them on their stock lights?

Anyone know a good vinyl wrap for head and tail lights? Or any tips if I do decide to wrap them myself. I love the look of the 2018 trd leds but they are expensive. I’m not sure if there’s a simple way for me to take apart my stock lights to somehow change it to black chrome or if that’s even a possibility so I’d like to smoke them out a bit for a darker look without dimming the lights too much

@ Bailey, you can take apart your OEM headlights by sticking them In the oven for 7-10 min@ 250-300*. It varies so pulling them out to see if they will pull apart.I did 250 for 8 minutes. Gloves will be needed obviously. If you are wanting to just paint your shards and not your reflector bowls then your ok. If your trying to completely black it out, then projectors will be needed. Spyder has stepped up there game with there new headlights for the 2nd and 3rd Gens.

I like the look of the black housing spyders plus there’s matching taillights to go with the front but I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying they’re not as bright as stock or that they are a bit disappointing in the lighting factor, which puts me off of buying them because I’d hate to spend so much money and be disappointed. I was checking out Oracle halos and they look real nice but seems like an easy enough project to do on my own with some led strips.

But for painting the chrome, I’d basically be good painting everything but the bulb bowl to darken then some? What kind of paint would you use for that, just regular black spray paint or some high temp paint

As far as paint Bailey I used color matched paint I had made up. No high temp needed imop. Speaking on the Spyders, as I mentioned above the new headlights for the 2nd and 3rd gens are better. Read through some threads on here, guy's are satisfied from what I have read. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Feel free to ask any questions pertaining to opening them headlights up, I'll try to help in any way.

The 2014+ headlights are different than the 07-13, the 14+ are permaseal while 07-13 are butyl sealant. You can get the 2014+ headlights open, it just take much longer than opening the 07-13 headlight. From my experience with Oracle (on my 2011), the RGB are reliable but I always had trouble with the single color and dual color halos.

I had oracle Rgb halos on my 2012 Tundra headlights and fog lights. While they were cool to have they are also a pain. I would have a sections of the leds go out. So I would have to reopen the headlights to change the halos. Maybe they have improved since then. The theretrofitsource does have 18 OEM headlights for $650.

You can search BHLM and find good how-to pull them apart and paint them. Maybe buy a set of platinum or 1794 lights and open those up and paint, they have factory LED running lights. Or buy a used set of 2015 oem trd pro lights which are blacked out.
No matter what... your time, effort, and money will likely be better spent on a set of spyders for about 300 then install LED or HID bulbs from @Toytec Lifts. Or if you look around the 2018s are about 550 from @Roman, plus a harness from @iHacker.
Also the word is Toyota has some new 2019 lights coming out for the trd pro, if that's the case I bet some guys will ditch their current 2018 headlights to get the latest and greatest 2019. You will probably pick up a used set of 2018s for under 500

im running the blacked out/smoked spyders. look is a 8/10. output is a 3/10. I think the stocks were better lol AND im running Heise LED bulbs.

my previous stock set up with aftermarket LEDs were the brightest lights on the road. I could damn near light up a the whole 6 lane highway for 1/4 mile. if I didn't have my aftermarket fogs, I would consider selling my spyders and going back to my previous set up.

I think the projector is badass, but the output is not there. Though, ive seen retros with projectors and really great output. id say retrofit a pair or pic up the new ones from retrofitsource

Yeah, I love the look but if it doesn’t output well then what’s the point of spending the money and doing the work to put it in

Is it pretty simple to get an led or hid conversion on stock lights?

So it’d be best to go with the color switch ones then?
Looks badass! But I’d hate to have to pull them apart all the time if there’s a tendency for them to lose sections of the halo

Not really, to do it right it's called a retrofit. Meaning you open the headlights up and add all the components and wire them up. Also not cheap at all.

To add LED or better yet HID to spyders is pretty easy, you dont have to open them. A lot of guys run toytecs hid kit in their spyders and report that they work very well with better output than OEM lights. Guys who run LED bulbs in spyders seem to have mixed results.

So since retrofits and Oracle both sell halo leds, could I not just buy the strips people use for interior floor lighting and make my own halos with a little bit of wiring them myself? More of a project that way but figuring wiring out wouldn’t be too hard with a sort of converter to make sure the leds aren’t getting too much voltage and blow out. Has anyone done this or are those leds not great? Cheaper route so if they ever went out I’m not buying another set for 150-200$ already built I just would replace them myself

I wouldn't recommend that Bailey. Halos are not that expensive and are ready to install. You just need a 3/32" or smaller drill bit and some thin safety wire or bailing wire.. You could get creative though if you do open your headlights up and use the led strips to line the headlights . Just a thought

I really liked the halos on my 2011 Tundra, and the RGB caused me the least amount of issues. I had Oracle RGB halos with a retrofit, and projector halos from TRS. I pulled my headlights apart to replace TRS halos every 6 months due to sections going out. I never had to replace the Oracle RGB halos on my Tundra. I don't know what has changed since then, so this may be outdated if Oracle changed suppliers or maybe I just got lucky with a reliable set of halos.

Could have sworn I read on Spyders website that they are intended for use with halogen bulbs only and will void warranty if anything else is used. I too was going to buy Spyders until I saw that people said the output was in most cases worse than stock and if you put LED's or HID's in them the warranty was voided. I'd love to do retrofit projectors in my stock headlights but $$$ is always an issue. Looks to me like I'll just be buying some better halogen bulbs and dealing with what I got.

That’s a stunner! And they have a few different kind of halos now on Oracle and so they seem to have improved over the years. Colorswitch seems the most fun for looks and showing off

Thank you. That's good to know about Oracle, I haven't used any of their halos since I did my 2011 build.

When I got my 2014 Tundra I decided I wanted to keep my headlights "simple" First I retorfitted the factory SR5 headlights and did paint/projector halos. Then I did a set of Platinum/1794 headlights with projector halos and factory LED strip. I personally prefer the 2014+ headlights once modded. I have the 2018 Headlights now on my 2016 Platinum and I am very happy with them, I will probably end up selling the retorfit headlights after installing the 2018s.

I have the same Spyders and am running HIDs but I like the output. I get flashed sometimes. The Spyder projectors are better suited for HID than LED. I know a couple guys said LEDs worked well only once they changed the projectors out.

I’d like to paint mine and put some halos in them, your truck looks mean as hell its nice. And yeah on Oracle they’ve got a video explaining their different kind of halos and how they’ve been updated and stuff

Would you go with dual halos or just one halo? Unfortunately they don’t have ones for taillights after 2013 but I could do the fog and head lights82BD3A16-C031-489A-8B44-08E2F6181014.jpg

If I were to get spyders I’d want this set but I’d have to convert to HID and all that for them to actually look good which is meh713A8F96-53BC-406C-965A-0EE2A558D9D1.jpg

yeah I heard the HID were a better fit for the spyder projectors. but I think my comparison is a little skewd since my last set up was so birght. I wish I had a picture. I took some pics the other night of my spyder out put and they look ok on camera, but I feel like its not the same in person
