Ordering 2022 Toyota Tundra

Can anyone confirm if dealers can put in a request for an exact build of a 2022 Tundra? I've been calling a couple dealerships and most of them say you can only be put on a waitlist once they receive their allocation. However, I called a dealership and they said they can put a build in. So I went there this past weekend and they put an "order" in for my exact Tundra specifications. Does anyone know if this is an actual order to Toyota or just a request to get an allocation that best matches my build?

You can do a specific build and the dealer will submit that to Toyota when allocation rolls around (middle of month and end of the month). The issue is whether or not the order gets accepted or not. You arent guaranteed the vehicle even though you put the sold order in and paid the deposit. With the supply being so low right now its just hard to get an order to go through. Toyota will try to fulfill them but sometimes it could take several attempts to push it through before it gets accepted. Allocation only comes twice per month so if it takes 5 tries youre 3 months before it even gets accepted and scheduled to be built. Its tough right now for sure.

Thanks @mike220022. Thats the the answer I was expecting. I'm not in any hurry to get the truck, so I figured if I'm going to spend around 60k on a truck, might as well get the build I want. I put in a build request for a Limited CrewMax with 5.5 bed in Lunar Rock with the TRD Offroad package. I know Toyota doesnt make a lot of lunar rock trucks, so hopefully they can build my truck

 

No worries...hopefully the order gets accepted for you soon. I love that color, its one of my favorites that we have. I wish they didnt do away with Cement, I really liked it

i thought allocation reserve requests where selected on the 5th and 15th?

 

The exact date changes from time to time but its middle of the month and end of the month

 

I called around to 1 dealership so far, they told me they can put the order in and wait for a match to pop up from Toyota. They quoted me at 68k after markup. I want the 6 foot crew max SR5 4x4 OR in Lunar Rock. Im going to put my deposit in next week at another dealership after I get a few quotes.

 

I am also looking to purchase another used Toyota at the same time. Do you think I can use this as a sales tactic to lower the price on my Tundra build?
