In the past weekend, did the first oil change. I accidentally over filled the oil by maybe 100 cc, probably 0.5 - 0.75 inch pass the dot on the dip stick.

My question is can I just loosen the oil drain plug and let some oil leak out and retighten it with the same drain plug and gasket? Is it going to make the drain plug unable to be sit tight if I do it this way?

The question might be stupid but just want to be sure since it's my first time doing it. Thank you for your input.

I've reused drain plug gaskets for years without a problem. If you chose this route monitor the drain plug to see if it leaks. If it does it's going to be a dip over days most likely

Make sure to take pictures of the entire oil pan capacity that hits the garage floor when you drop the drainplug.

You might be better to drain the oil filter.

ok... another stupid question... if the engine is full of engine oil, taking out the oil filter will only drain the oil within the filter right? not like the rest of engine oil will flow out through engine oil filter?

Yes. But 0.1 quart is nothing, forget it. 3UR is fine even with 2 full extra quarts in it.

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
    X2 to ^

Oil is going to shoot out uncontrollably and you will make a huge mess putting the plug back in if you drain the pan.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
Do yourself a favor and replace the oil pan bolt with a Fumoto Valve. No mess when you change the oil and if by chance you overfill you can easily drain some out - again without making a mess

A fumoto valve would have made this job stupidly easy. Just a thought you might consider next time you are doing the oil change.

Sounds like I will be doing the oil filter route and just ordered a Fumoto valve. Thank you all for the advice :)

I would have just driven it with a little more in it. Hell,I’ve overfilled by 1/2 a quart sometimes and just drive.

Another great tool to have in the garage (and would have done great with this) is a fluid extractor.
I dont have this brand but basically the same. Works great for oils, empty that lawnmower gas tank etc.

I tried the smaller hand held units but with them the o rings need to be changed depending on what's sucked out.
Not worth it in my opinion.

This isn't hard. You can stop the flow of oil with your finger while you get the plug ready. I did this with my sienna on the last oil change.

I have it, too. Don't use it too often, but when it is needed it comes very handy.

For draining a cup or another of overfilled engine oil Fumoto valve is above all :)

Will be getting a Fumoto for my truck but they list 4 for the Tundra. Is one better than another?

    1. Position Adjustable
    2. Original
    3. Short Nipple
    4. Long Nipple

I assume long nipple so I can add a hose and direct the flow but thought I'd ask in case there's a better way to go.

Long nipple is what I use... Easy to connect a hose and drain.

I use short nipple, because I offroad in snow and ice. Still can attach a hose.

2nd gen v 3rd gen. I also have a RCI skid but wouldn’t consider the fumoto protected - it’s kind of off to the side.

Anyone has a link to fumoto valve that fits 3rd gen? Seems like there’s a few options out there. Just finished my last complimentary oil change so from now on it’s all me. That valve looks like it makes things a lot cleaner

I cant comment on a 2nd gen (well this wouldnt be the place for it anyhow in this subset of the forum)

On a 3rd gen I have the skid and transmission plate. The fumoto has about 3 inches (maybe a bit more or less) of space between the plate and underside of the valve is.
