I am thinking of painting my brake calipers during my next tire rotation. Anyone do this yet using brush on POR15 caliper paint?
I don't want to remove them from the truck so I was thinking brush in paint would be best. I have had good experiences with other POR15 paints. The paint is only $13 and I will obviously clean and prep them well first.
Also what color? Red to match TRD sport suspension and sway bar? Blue to kind of match truck? Or black because it's not flashy?

I saw your post right after I made mine. This kit was $22.00 at AutoZone and is brush on. It will take a couple of coats but that can has plenty.

Red looks good To match trd components but kinda bringing attention to stock brakes that arent worth showing off imo. Silver looks clean too and doesnt look like youre showing off stock brakes

I like the red. I’ll be doing this once I get some new rims and move on from the stock 1794 rims.

Inexpensive mods like this are a lot easier on the wallet.

I'm considering just leaving them alone. I think they look great red, but I do only have the stock calipers so maybe its not qoegg drawing the attention plus I'm not a flashy guy and feel this is too much bling. I already have the red sway bar, and am getting red trd sport shocks all around so maybe the calipers will be too much red. I may eventually do them, but maybe just black. We'll see.

Do the brake parts not need to be disassembled for the painting process?

I disassembled mine and taped off bleeder valve and pistons. I used duplicolor red ceramic rattle cans and finished with same in clear coat. Pretty easy. Since I was replacing rotors and pads I figured it was the best time to finally get 'em done.20190921_095153.jpg

Looks good. I'm debating doing mine, but I won't plan that until it's time to do the brakes.

I did mine with the brush on paint. Looks good two years later. That small paint can is enough to do the tundra ( all four corners), outer rim of rotors for a Porsche Boxster, and all four calipers for same Porsche. Still have about a half can left. Pick up some small acid brushes at harbor freight ( 4.99 for 36 brushes).

    I just did mine too.
I used VHT high temp caliper paint (spray). Do yourself a big favor and disassemble the brakes for a cleaner, easier, and ultimately professional type job. I did the BBK on the front so I only had to paint the rears. There are two 17mm bolts and two 19mm bolts. They come off and on really easy and allow you to paint with minimal masking. Hardest part was wire brushing the stupid CT rust and gook off to get a clean surface. I did TRD rear pads so I felt "OK" about putting the TRD label on it, lol!

IMO, I would have taken the pads and clips off before painting. I didn't spray mine. I used the Duplicolor brush on kit so there was no need for clearcoat.

Either black or grey. Unless they are 6-8 piston aftermarket calipers, it’s cheesy to paint them red or blue or yellow, etc to make them stand out. That’s just my opinion.

Dealership told me not to paint them myself. Said Toyota has denied brake claims stating the paint caused the issue. I guess make sure you cover all parts not to be painted.

I'm thinking black or gray, I'll see what colors the POR15 kits come in. I know that its under $15 for their brush on paint. I'd like to do the hub/rotar flat spot where the wheels bolt up, to maybe keep those surfaces from rusting together. I put grease in there but they still seize up something fierce and it's a battle kicking and kicking to get the tire off for a rotation

Oh what wheels are those? They look sweet but I don't think I've seen them before, maybe its just the way the picture is though.
