Just curious those who have one with a panoramic roof how bad the heat transfer really is with the shade closed or open? I noticed some but not much in the truck for a short drive at this time of year but have heard others in reviews online saying it is excessive in the summer. I live in AZ where it is 115 half the year and sunny so that could be a big deal. Thanks!

In the summer in South Ms the sun is bright and the heat can be uncomfortable with shade open , but with the shade closed no problems

Add a 3M ceramic window tint to the moon roof, they are more effective at reducing temperature from sun exposure than you would think.

Living in Texas, I decided to have a clear ceramic film added to the roof. Works great, no issues parking out in the sun all day.

I feel like the truck definitely gets hotter inside even with the shade closed with that giant black glass on the roof.

Awesome, I love the look but the heat scared me. That was a push for Limited vs going down to SR5 if I didn't get that. Appreciate the feedback!

I just had my 2023 1794 Tundra tinted, and didn't do the panoramic roof but did all the other windows - I put 70 ceramic on the front windshield as we live in SWFL - I might do the panoramic with this as well.

It's worth the money if you live in warm climates (SWFL qualifies lol), hope you love the truck!

I would only buy it with pano. But then I love the sun and how bright the cabin is. I do close it when it is hot so AC can cool the cabin faster after sitting in the heat.

Actually, we were driving around last night, checking out the neighborhood Christmas lights with all the windows open(pano, rear window, and all door windows! - Quite nice! Like out with an open top jeep with a nice suspension )! 70*F and just beautiful night out! (Have to be careful because there's still a lot of damage and debris next to the road from Hurricane Ian (we were basically ground zero here for it )

I was extremely anti sunroof, and really insisted on getting a limited without sunroof for heat and reliability issues . But couldn't find one..

I got 1794 with the big sunroof and love it now. It's really cool to have one more big window (on top) to look at it sometimes - trees, sky, clouds, skyscrapers. It really adds joy for me, which I never had thought of before.

I'm still scared that it may leak one day, but so far so good!

The cover is actually kind of thick and blocks heat well. Of course it'll be a bit hotter than regular roof... But it's nowhere as bad as on wife's Mbz which has a cloth cover on the roof, and all of heat gets right through it!

As others said, you can do ceramic tint that will help to reduce the heat.

And you can also get higher trims with much more goodies. Even limited with options... Most of them come with big sunroof.

Disclaimer: hottest I've used this truck was about 80* outside lol. But I'm sure it won't be an issue when on road trips in summer, when it gets really hot in north California at 85*!

Yes, but I would order the truck without the moonroof if Toyota would let me option it that way. They force you to take it with the options my truck has. I honestly never use it living in South Florida.

It’s funny I was curious how the TFL Truck guys got there 22 Limited TRD off-road without the moonroof. There only option was the off-road package. Once I picked the TRD off-road package on mine it forced me to get every other option. I do love the LED lights and the camera system though!

Me and my wife thought the heat was very noticeable with the shade closed. I wasted no time having ceramic tint put on and it makes a huge difference. I hate that there is no option to not have the glass on higher trims. I have zero desire to have a sunroof, moonroof...whatever they call that huge piece of glass.

Shade shut helps to keep heat out but adding a ceramic tint like others have mentioned makes a big difference. For what you pay, it’s totally worth it. Driving with the shade retracted the heat raining onto your skull goes from unbearable to barely noticeable.

Yes 100% would buy again, no regrets.

Curious - thinking I might go with the ceramic on the panoramic glass (I have it on the rest of the windodws) - I haven't had any issues with the heat yet - this time of year it's not such a big deal, but in the summer months here, it is. How much did they charge for that?

As much as I love sunroofs, I hate glare, heat from them and just too much sun. My last 2 trucks , gm Denali and f150 lariat with a pano, I rarely had the shade open. So for my tundra pano I got ceramic tinted, fairly light can’t remember the %. Amazing, love it, no heat no glare amd I have never closed the shade since I got the truck. Together with ceramic side windows it’s amazing how cool it stays. Would recommend 1000x

Like many others have said (except @Donas , who generally seems grouchy!) the pano is awesome. Great light in the cabin. Open up the sunroof along with the side windows and the back window and you have a really great open air experience. It is lovely in the Spring and Fall.

In the summer, you can just close the shade and it's like it's not even there.

And, and many have said, I installed an TSER film on the sunroof and it makes a big difference in the south in the summer in the direct sun.

Get the pano, install the film, and enjoy. You will not regret it, at all, I promise. It's great. Unless you're @Donas ! haha

Thanks. I went and drove a limited without the pano and it just didn't feel right. Long story but I drove a Platinum with one right after and almost bought it but the original buyer decided they were going to go through with the purchase so the dealer took it back from being available to me. That sucked but I loved it overall and won't buy without it.

How much was the dealer asking for the platinum vs the limited? Both 4x4?

Just to clarify, I'm grouchy because I would like an option not to have a sunroof? Ok. I do see I'm not the only one in this thread that would prefer not to have one.

Maybe you should do a little more due diligence before making assumptions. I have hundreds of posts on here, none of them are name calling or otherwise saying anything untrue about the product I purchased or the service I have received. Even after paying $65,000 for a vehicle that has spent 60 days in the shop, I still find positive things to say about it. I would say I have been more and positive in my reactions and posts all considered.

.....ok, I have to go back to the porch to yell at the kids. Bye

I got a Limited with no pano. I think it was so they had a Limited TRD trim below $60K. I had a sunroof on my last vehicle and opened it twice. Kansas just doesn’t have enough nice days to need it and it gets hot AF in the summer, I’ll gladly take the extra insulation of a regular roof.

I went to my local tint guy to check on pricing for my pano roof on my Platinum. He said I would have to sign a waiver in order for them to tint the pano roof because the heat may cause the pano roof to shatter. The waiver would relieve the company of any liability should the pano roof shatter. I decided not to tint the pano roof and risk it shattering due to excessive heat. I live in TX and the heat here is brutal in the summer.

i got an appointment for tomorrow to get tinting done . I was worried about what you said . Last year we bought a new house and had to sign a document saying the warranty would be over if we tint the windows . The ones facing the Sun can get really hot
