Hey all, I’ve been on a paranormal podcast kick lately and wanted to see if anyone here had any experiences they would like to share. I’m sure with the outdoor enthusiasts that gravitate towards Toyota trucks and SUVs someone on here is bound to have tales of high strangeness from the back country.

I can’t say I have any compelling experiences myself, but I’m always interested in reading other people’s stories.

The only strange stuff I’ve seen has been up in space. Mostly small, fast moving lights that resemble satellites, but that make incredibly quick maneuvers. Probably just advanced (human) technology, but with stuff like the Black Knight satellite, who knows

I'm not much of a believer myself but we do have an ongoing occurrence since losing my Father in Law. He liked dimes. The 10¢ coin. My wife and I find dimes in the strangest places. One especially touching time was while in the hospital with our 26 yr old Grandson about to go in to surgery for brain cancer. On the floor beside Matt's hospital bed was a dime.

We save these dimes and place them on his gravestone.

My Mom (really my grandmother) taught me about (this is in Spanish): "Duendes". According to her they were children who'd passed without a proper burial - so they're wandering around causing mischief.

You've probably encountered some when you're looking for something around the house like - could be anything like say a broom. You Know you left it in a certain place yet its not there so you look lots of other places just to return to where you started and there it is. Can you relate? They like to misplace things for us to laugh at us.

The Duendes must follow me around from home to home over the years because they do things like this to me all the time!

Mom also told me the dead exist yet can cause us no harm - just frighten us if we let them - LOL!

Y'all know that I don't believe in any of that nonsense paranormal crap. There is no such thing as life after death, ghost, etc.

Now, the supernatural as far as undiscovered or unproven creatures is completely true. I didn't believe until I found solid proof, and it still scares me to death that these creatures are out there.

    I have stacks of stories.
@Johnsonman I have a few of those... I have a fig tree in my yard and I coulda sworn I saw a duende shadow, pointy hat and all on the side of the house.. Downside it was in the dark but I looked away and back and it was gone. My mom said some legends state they're attracted to Fig trees, idk though.
Duendes were present in this cursed house my grandfather lived... Before he passed he woukd state they would dance on his chest, but as days passed there was always 1 less of them.. As if they were counting down. It made sense since the day he passed there would've been 0 duendes left.

I have a couple extraordinary ones, fast moving objects in the sky in the middle of the ocean are crazy. David Fravor's story, I was stationed on the Nimitz 03-06..

Got lots more... lol, I enjoy some of these podcasts and ghost hunters... Museo del Horror is fairly interesting in ghost hunting.

Agreed, @Azblue is probably the most paranormal thing I've ever seen as well.

Cool, I’ll have to check that podcast out. My current rotation of supernatural/conspiracy podcasts are Holosky Podcast, Ninjas are Butterflies, and Blurry Creatures every once in a while when they have an interesting guest or topic.

I don’t have any experience with Duendes, but the fast-moving objects you mentioned piqued my interest. It seems like there is a strong connection between UFOs/UAPs and rising from or submerging into the ocean.

I have 2 experiences, 1 with the UFO/UAP/USO and 1 with an unknown entity, I can't really get into details about the Nimitz one though, since I don't have the rank privilege nor the allowed amount of time so I always point to David Fravor for that. I can tell you that people went to visit my mom's house both times, 1st time I was out in the Mediterranean Sea, and my mom was hot people trying to take my brother, cuz they needed to talk to me about something.... 2nd time they went looking for me about an armed robbery and a stolen jersey, described what I was wearing to a T at the time including said jersey, which was eerie AF....

I was in the chow hall at RAF Bentwaters during that time when we overheard Security Police personnel talking about the event. We kinda laughed at them and thought they were full of it and never heard anything more. A few years later Leonard Nimoy had a show covering the Rendlesham forest sighting and I thought ... Damn, something really did happen out there:)

While we are on the topic, what is everyone’s thoughts on the UAP/UFO disclosure coming out of various governments?

It's a bunch of religious beliefs around reincarnation. My wife's family is also very superstitious. I have adopted a lot of the Buddhist beliefs but as a skeptic, you're less likely to have a paranormal encounter. Definitely a believer in the moon cycles. Full moons make people nuts.

Had to google rougarou as I'd not heard of it before.

Dunno if it's a paranormal thing, but there's a camp spot we'll never go back to. It's in northeastern BC about 120km from a paved road and 250km from the nearest town of 3000 people, so pretty far back in the sticks. There's two camp sites within 10km of each other, north and south. You hit the south one first.

We went out to it for the first time on a May long weekend, it was beautiful weather for that time of year. Clear blue skies, sun shining, nice and warm, all was well. We were slowly driving along the road, windows down enjoying the mountain air and looking at the river below. When we would stop, we could hear birds, squirrels and the wind in the trees. Typical backcountry stuff.

We got to the south site and as soon as we turned off the road into the site, everything changed. The sun seemed to disappear even though the sky was still clear, the temperature dropped by 10 degrees and everything went silent. We couldn't hear the river 30 yards away. No birds singing, no squirrels chattering and the wind had died completely. It was silent, calm and cold.

I had this feeling of dread come over me. I didn't want to get out of the truck, nevermind set up camp. The shotgun on the back seat didn't make me feel any better. This was a different feeling than when what I call my "woods sense" tells me there's a bear around, or some other natural hazard. I looked at The Woman, and she whispered "I don't want to be here anymore. We need to leave."

We pulled out and headed for the north site. As soon as we were back on the main road the sun was back, the temperature was warm, birds were singing and the breeze was blowing again. We got to the north site and it was beautiful. We had a great weekend with the whole place to ourselves, only seeing one other truck that passed by on the road.

On our way home, I had to pull into the south site to see if it had just been my "wood sense" or something thinking that whatever it was had passed. The experience repeated itself. The darkness, the cold, the silence, the stillness, the dread. We peeled out and never went back to that site.

I can't explain it, but all I can say is that there's evil in that place. Either something horrible happened there or there's an evil of another kind lurking. I'm not interested in finding out either way.

You're not far off with that being the truth. At a certain gov agency, we always braced for a night with the full moon. Seems we were running all night, trying to keep up

It's such a beautiful lil spot and hardly anyone knows about it. Ghost or not I camp here every chance I get.

I've read that the light interrupts people's sleep and that's contributes to people acting differently. Not solely buying that. My wife is a believer, sees and hears shit all the time.

I love this topic and its a favorite to discuss around the campfire of course. The only time I get super sketched out is when the woods goes silent. I think the only time I have ever been spooked at camp was waking up on the front range of the rockies in my tent around 4am.. dead silence and the stream nearby seemed to have ran dry even though I know it was close enough to hear. The only thing I could hear was something outside the tent sniffing. I dont think it was a bear, I think it may have been some sort of cat? I didnt hear rocks, I didnt hear sticks or branches but I heard sniffing. A few minutes later I started hearing birds and the stream legit sounded like it turned back on and I laid awake until the sun started to rise before I hopped out of the tent to look around. Nothing- no prints- no sign of a visitor.. nothing. Of course that night I happened to leave my gun in the truck which has my flashlight on it so I was not about to open my tent at 4am and get face to face with something in the pitch black LOL

At breakfast my buddies girlfriend mentioned she also heard sniffing in the middle of the night (without me mentioning it), and their tent was prob 50 or so ft from mine so I assume some sort of sneaky cat or something.

Bruh, long story short, I lived in El Salvador for a short period and my aunt and her kids (my cousins) used to come over to 'watch' us. We lived next to a creek in Colon, El Salvador. I was awoken by a moan or cry coming from the creek's side fairly loud... My aunt rolled into our room, my brother and I shared, and told us to be quiet and that everything would be ok. Stuff was insane, couldn't sleep for a week. Kept sounding more like a howl, I thought it was wolves or coyotes, but my aunt insisted it wasn't and that we should never leave the room when it was around.

Beautiful country up there. Nearly made a trip not too long ago but opted for Fools Hollow a little farther south.

Everytime I was told La llarona stories it was always the canals. Enough kids I new growing up swore they saw, her so it killed any thoughts I had about visiting the canals after dark

It's a great lil trip. I started in Flagstaff and went to oak Creek canyon. Then meteor crater, 2 guns, twin arrows, clear Creek, petrified forest, then Geronimo. All within a couple hours drive of each other.

I made mention over in the Live thread, but this seems a bit more appropriate of a thread.

Anyone here enjoy the SCP wiki stuff? I've read some and forgotten most, but I found a youtuber years back who presents them in a format that I enjoy.

The wiki itself is community created and curated with set rules and such, but it is presented in a mostly standardized format. People create and submit entries in the appropriate format, and if approved, they get added to the site. It's basically a bunch of creative paranormal/sci-fi type stuff and ranges from being based on legends and myths to being completely original concepts.

Some basic info on what SCP is:
    • SCP stands for Secure. Contain. Protect.
    • The wiki is presented as documents/records of "The Foundation" regarding anomalous items/events/entities that they have.
    • The Foundation is a secret global organization that supersedes and is supported by all major governments for the purpose of containing and protecting people, nations, and a even the planet/reality from the anomalous subjects.
    • Think of it like the FBI team in X-Files but way way bigger. Global and multi-government big.
If any of that sounds at all interesting to you I suggest you watch the first 10 minutes of this video, at which point the guy will tell you it's a good place to dive in if you want to. It helps lay the basic structure out better than I can do here in text.

Item of note, the guide below is 6 years old at the time of this posting and the wiki has continued to grow. Still, it's the best intro to it all that I've found.

I’ve always thought it has to do with humans being mostly water and as a full moon causes a higher tide with the oceans it only stands to reason it might effect people too .

Here's my one and only story. Make of it what you will.

Many years ago my ex was out shopping with our young daughters, leaving me at home alone in a toasty, warm house. I was walking down the main hallway when all of a sudden I felt an icy-chill come over my body. I felt very uncomfortable and uncertain. It stopped me in my tracks momentarily. I've never forgotten it. Never will.
