Hi! passenger window motor response has been deteriorating over last year and finally replaced motor. Got replacement mounted on regulator and wired and it automatically shut the window. Pulling back on switch paused the raise, but wouldn't lower. Figured was a bad motor. Order another and the same issue. Removed the switch and tried it on my daughter's 2008 Solara and it worked fine. Wiring issue perhaps? Seems if it were a fuse it wouldn't work at all. Any ideas? Thanks!

Where'd you get the replacement, and is it OEM or aftermarket crap?

Where did you buy it from? (Yes, I really want to know, there's a reason I'm asking)

Has the truck ever had an aftermarket alarm installed, and/or does it still have one installed?

Did you check the alignment and operation of the scissor and other mechanics inside the door, maybe that was the original problem?

Wonder if it has a fail-close function?

Not following you there, it's lowering but pulling up paused the "raise" ?

Along with above ?'s, my first thoughts are you got conductors reversed when wired, given our window systems simply reverse polarity when switching up/dpwn.

If you select the lock window button on driver side, does that stop pass window from acting up ?

Someone else ... crap, maybe @NickB_01TRD ? ... replaced his recently and I swore there was something about needing to replace the wires with one he bought off scAmazon or RockAuto? Or was that @Hi06silver ?

    Anyway, good catch, great thought.

Shifty: Bought it from Napa. Both times. Truck has never had any aftermarket alarm. Scissor/regulator seems to be fine. Operational. Hit it with white lithium grease.

Bubba W.: when connected to power, the window raises to closed automatically. Driver side lock button doesn't make any difference. Only one way to connect the power to the motor, and connect conductors, so don't see how reversed polarity could've happened.

Assumed you meant you personally wired the motor, which means you indeed could reverse conductors wrongly. Having only bought OEM, was not aware of how NAPA parts come and assume it came with proper connector already attached ?

I didn't have an issue with any wiring, rock auto had their shit entered wrong in their catalog. After fighting with them via email on returning the thing I didn't buy another one because I wasn't confidythey had the correct one in the damn catalog. Still probably need a new one as it doesn't like cold, cold weather but sil-glyde in the tracks helped tremendously. I thought my regulator was bent to hell, still do from looking at it but it still does the same shit when really cold just not as bad? Super annoying. I just didn't wanna spend 400 bucks in OEM motor.

BubbaW: the Napa part did come with the proper connector, correct. Frustrating as hell and am at a loss and, having admitted defeat, will be taking it to the professionals.

I'd be super interested to hear what a pro/service tech says about the issue. Whatever it is, it may save the next guy some $$$ if you're able to pop back in and share.

As @Shifty requested, please do let us know the findings. There's only a couple things that could cause the window motor to "automatically shut the window".

If you have a volt ohm meter(VOM), that can be easily checked.
In any case, good luck with findings.

One more question....when you reference extended cab in your profile, are you meaning AC(access cab) or DC(double cab) ?
