Does anyone else's door sticker not match what toyota has put out for payload capacity?
I've got a 23 trd pro and everything on the internet says 1600 payload but the door sticker is 1350 which is worse than a raptor.

No one’s door sticker matches the brochures. Those listed payloads are max available for any model. Usually based on the lowest and least equipped. Add any options (i.e. weight) and it all subtracts from payload.

yeah they installed a bedliner and threw on a sticker that stated it was lowered by 24lbs. But I'm specifically talking about the factory sticker that gives max payload.

Yeah it's just funny because the TRD PRO doesn't really have any options.

I think in the case of a model not available with any options, it could matter. Why list a 1600# payload if it’s really 1350#? Seems like misleading advertisement

I get that but nobody is going to hire a lawyer and sue Toyota over it to get it changed to my suggestion is move on and weigh the truck, CAT scales will tell you the real payload instead of some marketing BS

most people who are weighing are finding several hundred pounds of extra capacity over the rating, I think toyota sandbagged the rating a bit

    anyways, just my .02

my guess, cost savings, it would be a increased cost to come up with a payload of just a Pro which is a small unit sales model.

    or marketing blows

I think someone didn't know how to work the scales I checked the gvwr and that matches toyota's site of 7615 so either the trd pro is heavier then they are saying or they can't do simple math. Either way I think i'll end up running it through a scale to get a better idea.

ya run it through the scales empty as you can get it and report back, it would be interesting to hear.

remember everything you add counts, tonneau , hitch, bed liner, mats, etc.

I don't think that the optional hybrid battery and driveline system under the backseat is taken into account for payload capacity in lower trim levels... That's the only think I could think of. Because you got the trd pro with the hybrid they take off however much the battery weighs

The TRD pro is only available as a Hybrid, which has the higher GVWR vs the non-hybrid.

It might have a higher GVWR but that doesn't mean it has a higher payload. Bigger battery = more weight = higher GVWR but lesser payload

Op is saying it’s advertised as 1600# specifically for the TRD Pro which is only available in one cab config and one drivetrain with no available option packages. So why does his door sticker say 1350#. Shouldn't it say 1600#? Legit question.

oh I apologize I misread this forum. I think that's how every truck is tbh like someone else said. the sticker never matches what the dealership/advertisement says. Whether that be because they overestimated it before production or another unknown reason. It might also have something to do with the tires since the payload sticker is shared with tire pressure information?

It was the same on my 2020. If you look at the brochure for a 4x4 crewmax it has its specific payload, and my door sticker was a few hundred pounds less than that, which is crazy. Payload sticker was around 1,250 or so.

The payload Toyota puts on the door jamb sticker is based on each model code’s GVWR. They’re conservative so the payload used the fully optioned vehicle for each model code. Many people have taken their trucks to the scales and found that their payload is higher than the sticker because their trucks are not fully optioned. I only have the table from the non-hybrid but I suspect the story is the same for the hybrid. Toyota advertises some different payload numbers online but they call it “Max Payload” which could mean the payload for the least optioned truck. They also make this disclaimer:

This is the load carrying capacity table. It should match the sticker perfectly for your given model code. If you have a hybrid, look in your owners manual.

So the sticker on his door jamb is for a limited crewmax hybrid 4x4, not a TRD pro specifically?

Seems that way. If you look at the website specs, you can see that Payload = Base Curb Weight - GVWR for each spec. Base curb weight likely means least optioned spec.

But the TRD PRO has only one spec. So it would seem they aren’t separating it from the others
