Recently snagged a '22 SR5 Off-Road and am hoping for a little feedback regarding Toyota's ECP Platinum Plan.

I usually don't go for warranties, usually because I am buying older vehicles, but the '17 Tacoma I had prior to the Tundra had an ECP, which actually ended up saving me a very costly repair (timing cover leak discovered within 1,000 KM of ECP expiring). Obviously, there is a lot surrounding these new Tundras, and I do think that Toyota has done the right thing with the long block replacement, but my main concern is the amount of tech in these trucks and if there have been any inherent issues that could become a pricey fix down the road.

The best deal I have been able to find is Platinum ECP 74 months/ 160,000 KM for $3,200 CAD. The truck already has ~60,000 KM on it so the "free" oil changes are a wash, but essentially the ECP would give me "peace of mind" for an additional 2 years (my math breaks this down to ~$150/month "insurance").

Are there any stories of electronic gremlins or anything else in these Tundra's?

As far as the extended warranty goes: No one really wants to spend more then they have to but with that said in the case of the gremlins for the Tundra the peace of mind was well worth it for me. These as well as other vehicles have gotten so damn expensive for the average buyer and cost of repairs can be insane. I made be reading this wrong but assuming your in Canada? Either way before you jump into warranty take the time to call around for prices. At least here they can vary widely for the same coverage. I live in Arkansas but bought my extended warranty from a dealer in Kansas at half the price I was quoted locally.
P.S. Did a search and got this back : if you live in Canada, you can purchase a Toyota extended warranty (Vehicle Service Agreement or VSA) from a Toyota dealership in the United States, and the coverage can be used at any participating Toyota dealership in the U.S. and Canada. Here's a thread on it https://www.tundras.com/threads/extended-warranty.106047/

@Observer, you are correct, I am in Canada. I didn't realize that you could shop the ECP around (I thought it was standard pricing) but then I came across that thread you mentioned and started calling Toyota dealerships across the country. $3,200 for 74 months/ 160,000 km is the best price AND the longest coverage that I have been able to find north of the border. It seems like there is much less movement up here on these plans. I even tried to reach out to Troy and Jerry, but unfortunately, the truck would need to be registered in the US.

I am essentially trying to determine if it's worth banking $3,200 for any future repairs or if that's worth the peace of mind for an additional 4 years of comprehensive coverage and 2 years of powertrain, a big determining factor being any insight into "common" issues with these trucks (outside of the engine, seat cracking, wind noise) and the cost to repair. For example, I know anything tech-related isn't going to be cheap, but I haven't been able to find any definitive gremlins outside of the ones mentioned earlier.

Cory15000, All I can say is I feel for you.
It's a tough decision. Like the majority of the rest of us we don't have just bags of money to throw out the window. I in the past have always kept my vehicles for at least 10yrs. and up to the tundra never had bought a extended warranty I went back and forth on putting out the extra cash but finally decided that if I was going to hold on to the truck for a few years it was better to bite the bullet and just do it and move on. My truck hasn't really given me any problems "knock on wood" and in the end the money I put out may have been for nothing.
I guess in the end I looked at it this way. Am I happy that I put out extra money for a extended warranty - NO , Would I be happier if I didn't buy the extra protection - NO, But I am at least a little less "unhappier" knowing that I have longer protection which gives me some peace of mind - Yes.
About the only thing I never worry about is my "Pet Rock" , this was a thing for a time many years back, It has been a real trooper and has always done what I expected it to do without a single problem. :)
