Has anyone specifically changed out the grille on a 22+ Tundra Platinum with the TRD grille with lights?

If so do you have a picture and the source of the parts you used?

I'd like to change out mine, but have been getting various incompatibility messages from sites I'm looking to purchase the parts from.

Also would like to see the appearance, especially if you your new grille is matte black like alot of them come. The Platinum has some unique finishes that I want to ensure look good with the replacement grille.

    Thanks for any help...

Thank you! Looks great and appears you left it matte black correct?

Does the light bar work or did you leave it unattached?

What site did you order from?

That's the original finish on the grille, yes. Light bar works but it required custom wiring, not plug n play. I ordered it from my local dealer. We have a TRD thread with the part number you need.

    Lots of stuff!
The grilles on the various trims will fit.

The thing to watch for is the front camera mount as they can be different for each grille.

So for planning the swap, you need the grille, camera mount, lights for the top of the grille, a wiring plan to turn the lights on.

Adding a lightbar? this will need some planning for wiring and additional brackets to support the weight of the lightbar. Aftermarket ones are heavier than the TRD Pro OE one but will probably give you useable light.

There are lots of discussion in various threads that will help. Just do a quick search under the Gen 3 forum.

Rave off road has complete kits with several options for oem and aftermarket grill inserts and lights including wiring and switches.

I looked at the kit but with the Rave kit, you probably don’t get an OE grille. The lights have been a subject of water ingress issues. I did order the amber set from Rave and they don’t have any water issues.

Not too sure about the light bar quality. Keep in mind that with a light bar, you probably want to install some braces to keep the grille stable.

I got my grille from Sparks and the 3 lights from Rave. I still have to get a Diode Dynamics light bar and some brackets and a switch.

Also, consider the camera and if you have a front camera, make sure that the grille can support it.

TRD Jon on YouTube has a an informative install video demonstrating all the components including mounting brackets for light bar and camera. You’ll notice the factory Toyota packaging for the grill. It’s a specific option in the package.

I was interested in the Rave option. Care to share some details on why they are not favorable.

They’re non oem parts. If you do choose the oem parts you’re paying significantly more.
Their light bar is garbage. They over priced the DD bar. Their marker lights have water issues.

Anybody with a Platinum (ideally in celestial silver) swapped in the Heritage grille and had it painted gloss black to match the rest of the Platinum trim (i.e. flares, side badges, bumper)? I'm considering doing the grille in gloss black. Would love to see one
