Wassup everyone! Coming from Tacomaworld and doing the whole Tacoma thing (prerunner/LT,35s,fiberglass,etc) I went ahead and sold that for a older stock Tacoma which I currently drive. But now that I’ve had time to save some money and would like a bigger and 4wd truck. I’ve leaned toward the tundra vs v6 Tacoma. Now I just need to decided between the
crew max cab vs the double cab with the longer bed. Anyways, here’s some pictures of my first Tacoma and then my white one.

Welcome! I also had a Tacoma (X-Runner). I'm not an off-roader and prefer the sportier look of the double cab. I have plenty of room for the occasional extra passengers.

    Welcome.
    I went from a 2015 taco to a 2010 dc tundra.
It’s not as spacious as the cc, but provides enough space for occasional passengers.
I like having the longer bed for kayaks, lawnmower, furniture, etc.

Welcome! Never owned a Taco but after owning a Tundra I don’t think I could downsize. I prefer the DC for the added bed size. Plus the DC is plenty big in the back for my kids.

Totally understandable. Since having my Tacoma with a 6ft bed is nice, I just don’t use it nearly as much as I did when I was a bit younger. I don’t have any kids but instead friends that are all over 6’2”

Crew Max may be the way to go then! If your rear passengers are regularly over 6’ and you don’t need the bigger bed, that makes the choice a bit easier IMO.

I did test drive a few DCs which I liked but man, I’d feel bad for my friends in the back on trips to the snow or desert.

Welcome to the forum, Brian. History tells us that the Tacoma and the Tundra are great trucks. If you've already driven a Tundra, you know that the biggest differences are size and engine power. IMHO, the Tundra just feels more solid planted on the road. Nobody gets to ride for free though.... that bigger size means fuel mpg in the mid-teen's, and some parking challenges downtown and in the garage.

If you have need for child car seats, or a house full of pre-teens, get the crew max. If bed space is more valuable to you, get the DC. Something for everyone.

Cheers and keep us posted as your search progresses.

The drive back from the dealer was 17.6mpg with cruise set at 68. So it’s pretty much the same as my dads 4.0 DC Tacoma. The initial shock was 85 dollars to fill 3/4 of the tank. I’m used to 40 dollars tops in my old truck haha.

    Welcome from Santa Clara, CA!

I'm back in a Tundra after 5 years away in an Audi Coupe - LOL. This is my 3rd Tundra... and the truth is - I should never have left.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Crew Max. Obviously it depends what activities you have in mind. I use the bed for minimal hauling shit around and carrying mountain bikes to the trails. If I go camping, I'm able to fit everything I need even with the shorter bed.

Just my two cents. Enjoy your search!
