    Hey fellow Tundra folks

Awaiting my '21 pro to get out of this recall and actually make it to the dealer I bought it from. But I have a question as I just found out there are FOLDING Tow mirrors (OEM) to get. If installed can you just change the button in the cab to the one that has the folding mirror option and they will work? Or do you have to buy a whole new wire harness to make work?

I had a '18 Limited and purchased tow mirrors that were just plug and go, losing the BSM but no folding option.

Had found a KTJO company that seems to have a harness, but the reviews are not so great...

Thanks for any info going forward

Got power fold here and was going to change the switch and run power wires for fold, but then I learned snow and ice often causes the mechanism to break. Guess one could pull the fuse in the winter and be okay though. So, maybe at some point. To answer your question, switch and power supply wires to feed the juice are needed.

Their are no power folding tow mirrors from Toyota. They do offer power folding mirrors but if your truck didn't come with them you won't have the wiring for the power fold. Check out @RainMan_PNW build thread along with Boost Auto Tow Mirrors if you are wanting Power Fold Tow Mirrors. They aren't cheap but getting power fold mirrors adds about 300 to any set. I would not recommend KTJO based on folks experiences, products would be great if thru worked as advertised though....

    An update to your info…

Toyota makes power folding tow mirrors. They are part numbers 87910-0C281 87940-0C281 and were an option up until 2015. They are pricy and fit 2.5 gens. No BSM.

If your truck didn’t come from the factory with power folding (regular mirrors) you need to wire in and change the switch. The wires have to be physically run to the mirrors from the switch. I used the KTJO kit but have standard folding mirrors.

All good. It’s a rare item and the aftermarket mirrors are much better value for the money. If you can get the OEM ones I have seen them anywhere from $400 - 700 EACH!

Being in Canada things tend to freeze. Which is why I used the KTJO kit but didn’t connect it to the door locks and only to switched power. The mirrors only fold when I push the switch.

Check the build link in my signature.
That’s how the original Gen 2 LIMITED power fold switch works by default.
I added a relay to auto-fold mine whenever I shut the truck off, but snow and ice aren’t major concerns here. The few times we’ve had it, they still worked perfectly fine.

OP - as stated, you’ll have to add power wires along with the switch. Easy to do - it’s two wires to each mirror, and they splice together to be just two wires at the switch (MF and MR). Wiring diagrams of how i did it are in my build thread.
