Over the weekend I had the "Power Steering Failure. Power Steering Low. Visit Your Dealer." warning light pop on my dash. No DTC lights popped, but this one stayed on the rest of the day as I was out running errands. Cycling the engine did nothing to reset it so I scheduled a service appointment.

The next day when I started the truck, the light was gone. I never felt a noticeable change in the steering while the light was.

Just picked up my truck from the dealer after dropping it off this morning. They said there is a TSB in the system for this. I'll take a picture of my service write up, but wanted to throw this out there for anyone who might've run into this.

According to my service writer, the TSB involves an inspection of the steering rack. If no damage is found, there is a reprograming of the steering module. If there is damage, then they replace the steering rack. According to them, it's a programming error with the power steering system that could lead to eventual damage of the steering rack itself if left without the fix for too long.

I'm sure someone with access to TIS can probably post the actual TSB. @ryanwgregg?

I found a TSB that was released last week for the Electronic Power steering gear assembly ECU, but doesn't say anything about inspecting the steering rack. Only to check for DTC and reprogram if codes exist. If no DTC exist, then bulletin would not apply. Full bulletin attached.

Thanks for the info. I will see what my dealer has to say since there is a recall on the cameras anyway. And they are saying some service needed as well except it’s not 5000 miles yet
