Does anyone have experience installing one of these? I have the part but have yet to install it. Seems a little different then the pop and lock and I can't find any good instructions on the web.

If you take a look at the document I shared, it shows most of the parts along the way.

Can’t believe that’s not standard equipment already! I got lucky and it was on the truck I bought, just crazy how loud it is.

Got it installed. Totally plug and play and well made. Didn’t have to slice/tap/hack anything. It works great. There was one discrepancy in the instructions but overall a great kit and I’m totally happy.

Slightly louder than the door lock. Doesn’t bother me.

Is this the "pop lock" kit? I didn't realize it was oem.

Step 6e- route the wire harness from the passenger side floorboard to the tailgate. The instructions says to remove the grommet from the floorboard and discard it so that tailgate lock wire harness with new grommet can be used. My platinum has an existing wire going through that grommet so I can not simply discard it. Not sure if other trim have this wire going through the grommet or not. I ended up just pulling the existing grommet out of the way and pushing the new grommet into the hole with the existing wire in place.

It should take about an hour.
Recommend glancing through the instructions before starting the job. Be careful not to lose the push nut retainer that secure the actuator arm to the clevis. It fell out of the bag when I remove the actuator. Took me a couple of minutes to find it.

Got mine installed today as well. Plug and play. Very happy with it. The instructions were spot on with one exception. I did not need to remove the heat shield for the exhaust. Maybe because I have the TRD dual exhaust system. My grommet in the passenger foot well did not have any wires running through it so I discarded mine. The hardest parts for me were getting the passenger kick panel back on. Trying to get the panel to slide over the upper clip was a PITA. So I popped it out of the sidewall and clipped it into the kick panel and was able to get it back in. Also I don’t have a lift so getting under the truck was a bit harder and took longer than expected. I’m not a small guy. Also watch out for the heat shields under the truck they are extremely sharp. Cut my hand a couple times on the edges so I put on gloves, but too little too late :(. I also put in some dynamat in the tailgate to deaden the noise of the actuator. But honestly it’s not that loud even without it. I think it’s much quieter than the pop and lock version. Total install time for me was about 2 1/2 hours. Happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

Mine is a 20 Platinum as well. Really weird that I have the wire and you don’t. The wire on mine goes out and towards the tailgate area. Do you have the factory bed lights installed?
