Searched the forum before creating a thread about it so ill just answer here after seeing this. Hell yes I recommend. Running 5.29s and the GP unit. Finally had some real wet mushy gross snow to test the unit in today. Nannies off and I couldn't make the truck lose traction at the rear. Bounced it off the limiter a couple times (monthly carbon deposit cleaning lol) and nothing. I highly recommend the unit so far. Only 1k miles on it but enough mileage to be broken in and give it a proper test.

Just got mine installed today. After a couple of hundred miles I’ll test it out and post back.

Works flawlessly. Turn off the nannies and sling sh;t everywhere. Absolutely happy with the investment

I may join in on the fun. How's everything holding up for you guys. I have reservations about installing China imports in my baby girl.

I’m about 3k miles on mine. Still happy. Unless you really really try to spin the 35s, it just hooks and launches

I was actually thinking of writing a review since there really aren't any, but it'd be kind of boring. I got mine installed in March and have about 10k on it and no issues at all. No binding up or chirping tires on corners, and if you get on the gas it'll light up both rear tires. I have no complaints at all, and even running synthetic fluid it hooks up when I want. I've given it it's fair share of abuse with a supercharger/5.29s/35s and it's been awesome.

Hi, been reading forums and I currently am waiting on 5.29 nitro gears to come in,
And have both front & rear Eaton E-Lockers as well...

now my decision is to go with my original plan and install gears and both lockers in my truck... or run the 5.29s/Front E-Locker/ & powertrax grip pro lsd in the rear and sell my rear e-locker.

it is a DD currently, I do plan on taking trips and going OffRoad/dunes with family & friends. probably wouldn’t rock crawl, but looking for more info/feedback from guys with either setup

any help/advice/info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I had the Eaton lockers in mind when I regeared to 5.29’s. Even though I took on a few black diamonds in my old triple locked GX470, the Tundra is too big (and too expesive) to take on trails where I’d need the lockers. I did have a pro grip installed in the rear by Keith’s friend’s shop and I don’t regret my decision one bit.

I call dibs on the rear Eaton E-locker if you decide to go with the latter choice.

    The powertrax works superbly.
Always feels planted, no matter what.
I didn’t feel the need for rear lockers either.

Yeah I don’t really see a true need now for the rear locker... I was dead set on getting one at the beginning.. but now that I have it in hand and waiting for gears.. my mind started thinking about it more lol

I wouldn’t do any technical trails in our tundra.. have a 4runner to do that with, but I definitely wanted to beef up the rear a bit alongside the gear install.

I’m definitely leaning more towards the Grip pro LSD, and selling the rear locker.. especially after hearing great things about it too.

    I appreciate the feedback

I considered front and rear lockers, but just decided that the Tundra is fine with just the Powertrax in the rear. The extra traction will be useful on steep climbs and backing my boat up my steep gravel driveway!!!
You already have 4Runner and your dumping an awful lot of $ in a rig not as trail worthy. If I were you I would go out and drive that Tundra and then decide if you really need lockers!

I have much more appreciation of the Tundra after my recent trip to Moab. The Tundra crawled through stuff that the 4 runners struggled a little with. All of the runners were locked front and rear as well. Tundra was stock 4:30s and open diffs.

very true, so far it’s only seen beach/river trips, some mud and rocky trails where The tundra fit & got in and out no problem. I thought of the lockers cause I wanted a solid foundation(as in mods) to start with for the direction I want to go with my truck & trips/places I want to visit with my family in mind..

I want to go the Prerunner/LT route with the truck so now that is the reason for the LSD in the rear in my eyes. And a locker upfront, just in case. But yeah I’ll probably be going with the powertrax in the rear and either keeping or selling the rear locker

I recently installed the powertrax grip pro and revolution 5.29 gears front and rear After the breaking in period When I got on it It was Awesome it would grip and go rear tires would not spin out but recently I have noticed I’m just spinning out when I get on it I hear no noise is back there but I guess my question is how do you know if it goes out?

Did it just start spinning or was there an event (IE loud bang) then it stopped working as it did before? Also what's the condition of your tires? LSDs only work as good as the tire's condition.

I don’t remember any bang or anything I had the gear oil changed out same oil they first put in and next day seem to not want to grab like it was but tires are pretty new and wouldn’t of been much difference in tread after two days

I might just be tripping because I know before the powertrax when I would do a burn out most of the time only one tire would spin I’m trying it right now and both tires are spinning out and I believe that’s what the powertrax does right is makes both tires spin when you’re getting on it?

What gear oil? Powertrax specifies nonsynthetic gear oil with 0 additives. Synthetic and additives affect the LSD's performance and can wear it prematurely.

Yes. Layman's terms a LSD works kind of like a Chinese fingertrap. The more slippage, the more it clamps the gears causing equal power distribution (more or less). If both are spinning, it's working.

Yeah I think I was just freaking out a bit the Dirt road I was going down had a lot more loose gravel and I did just install a new dap tune (which I love) so it has a lot more get up and go to it

I know I’m kind of late to this post but recently had some rear end issues I’ve been running the grip pro on my tundra for a little under two years and recently had some bad wheel hop and axle wrap getting on it and broke my passenger side spider gear called power tracks and they are replacing my grip pro under warranty no questions asked and I’ve had fun with it since I’ve had it now installing some traction bars to help with the axle wrap so this is she doesn’t happen again but I would recommend it to anyone works perfectly as it should but if you get on your truck like I do I recommend traction bars

forgot to mention I’m also running revolution 5.29 gears
