I have a 2021 TRD Sport and am considering buying the TRD Fox Pro suspension. My question is for anyone with real world experience who can compare the TRD Sport suspension to the TRD Fox suspension. Ss it really worth it? Parts alone are $3000.00. I am looking for a softer ride on the highway and in town, my TRD Sport is to harsh for my liking. My previous truck was a 2009 F150, and the "ride" and harshness was considerable softer.

    Thanks,

    Budge

Pro suspension will be softer and 'floatier' around corners at HWY speeds (not dangerously so, but it does feel different)...

OE Pro has no rear sway bar, so if you leave yours on it will help w/a little of the body roll, but you loose some of the articulation of the rear axle.

TRD sport when it's off-road (gravel, rocks, bumps, etc.) is much harsher than the Pro suspension, which really comes alive and flexes it purpose as you venture off-road.

It really comes down to the truck's duty, purpose, and the environment you really want it to shine in.

Spend some time researching the suspension threads as there's a bunch of info out there on the OE suspensions and also several really nice aftermarket setups, which I have no experience with...

Looks like you have owned an SR5 and now a Pro, all other things being equal is the pro suspension worth $3000.00? I use my truck as a daily driver and family hauler both in town and on the highway. I don't off-road or wheel, I just want a more refined and softer suspension set-up.

The Pro suspension is definitely worth the money, but not if you're never really using it to off-road or run trails, etc... It lifts the front end about 1 1/2" and a nominal amount in the rear over other OE set ups as well, but again.. if you're not using it off the pavement, it really won't benefit you that much.

Save yourself some money and find someone w/a set of OE yellow and blue take offs (or find a good price on a new set of Bilstein 4600s). The yellow and blues were OE shocks from TRD Off-Road equipped Tundras. You'll find these to be a bit softer than what came on your TRD Sport, but not as soft or as capable as the Pro suspension.

Just for reference, and to make sure we are identifying what's on your truck now... The TRD 'Sports' should come w/the "red" TRD Bilsteins. They will give a bit of a harsh ride but perform the best on pavement w/noticeable improvements in handling...

The TRD Off Roads should come w/the "blue and yellow" TRD Bilsteins. These are a significant improvement over the OE "black" shocks and designed to be used in the TRD Off Road packages. They are softer than the Reds and not as 'tight' in the corners, but perform well on pavement and in light duty off-road use. You can find these new for under $500 a set... Based on what you're saying, this would be my pick . Here's an example listing/price for a set of these new (I'm not endorsing this particular vendor it was the first one that popped up)...

The "OE blacks" are the Tundras basic non-TRD "entry" shocks. These would also be softer than your reds. However, they'll wear out much faster than the Bilsteins and won't give you ideal performance under stress, etc... and have a tenancy to be 'bouncy' especially as they wear

and these are the Pros... again very much worth it, but probably not for what you're doing w/the truck.

I have had both, TRD Off Road Bilstein suspension, and the TRD Pro suspension. The FOX TRD PRO setup is MUCH better on and off road. Rides like a Cadillac on the street, so smooth and soft. But go off road and that's where they shine. The PRO suspension soaks up the bumps like nobody's business. I actually did the same thing you are considering on a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport. Bought and installed the FOX TRD PRO suspension myself, omg what a difference, worth every penny.

OEM SR5 or OR shocks for next to nothing will ride better than the Sport shocks, as stated above. I’ve read multiple posts stating that SR5 ride the best on road, the Pro shocks are stiffer, then the opposite, etc. Be careful with subjective feedback. You may get ten people who’ve had all 4 OEM options and all ten will tell you opposing views. For how little the SR5/OR shocks costs you could always do an experiment and resell what you don’t use. Good luck.

It not sure if it helps but I’ve had a few shocks on my truck. My co worker calls it “the slowest hydraulics kit ever”.
My 08 2wd is 97% highway use, I drive some of the worst roads in the south between New Orleans la and Houston Texas.
    I’ve had;
    oem black hitachi shocks
    Oem red/blue TRD sport shocks
    Fox 2.0 silver non resi
    For oem TRD pro
I also have TRD front and rear sway bars

What feels like a good ride to me might not to you and vise versa. From what I’ve had the better of the sample was the inexpensive Fox 2.0.

They rode good, not too firm but also not squishy. Took an interstate off-ramp with ease and allowed me to level the truck.
The TRD pro’s are different. Don’t expect much from these. They are softer on road almost semi floaty. My expectations were high when they went on but quickly diminished. They still take hits from rough roads and such but to me seem almost the same as my 2.0’s. Save the money and get a nice set of 2.0’s with resis. I got my pros second hand and had them rebuilt “not worth it”.

I’m no expert on any of this. Plenty of way more knowledgeable people on here can help you a lot more than I can. I wanted trophy truck Baja blasting street truck lol, still ain’t got it.

I’ve been telling peeps looking for best road ride and little to no off road that the SR5 basic bottom of the line shocks will always be best. The more off road oriented shocks are always stiffer. Long travel and tubbed firewall is one thing (as long as you don’t have to dodge a deer going 85 on the interstate), but anything in the less than a few grand range doesn’t compete with the stockers for on road ride only.
