Just seems like I don't feel the air coming from the little holes anymore.

Mine works well and I definitely feel the air blowing when it's on setting 3!

I don't think. the air actually "blows" thru the holes. It's more of a circulation thing.

In fact, I recall a thread in which a guy determined the ass fans actually create a bit of suction on the seats, because he noticed a receipt was actually clinging to the seat instead of blowing off.

It would be an easy thing to test with a piece of tissue paper.

I gave up on these a long time ago. funny story, it is why I bought this truck. I came from Ram and after mine got totalled, the main requirement was price and cooled seats. Since the date of purchase, I have hated this even being considered a feature on this truck. The only time I notice them working is when I leave the truck running and go inside for something and come back out. then I feel it for a bit until I dont. One day ill take everything apart and inspect them, but so far i have noticed many people who switch from another brand talking about how weak these are.

All of that said, most companies use a suction method for the ventilation, not a blower. From what I have figured so far, Toyota is one of them. After I get done with my drive I am going to pull the passenger seat and see what all is in there. The driver one will stay for a while. If you came from Ford or Ram, just be ready to be disappointed in the comparison. (regarding the seats)

Interesting. On our recent roadtrip from Colorado to the east coast, I noticed my ass getting a little swampy feeling when we got into the hotter humid climates. I turned the ass fan on setting 3 and immediately noticed the difference. I actually ran with it on setting 2 for most of the trip and was quite comfortable.

I mean this nicely... I am jealous. Even my passengers cannot feel me turn them on when I do. The ram would shrink your nuts in seconds and my buddies Ford out performed my Ram (do not tell him I said that). So I started asking around and its a popular complaint in my area and on the FB group

No problem. I guess some of us have have more sensitive asses than others. My wife ran her ass fan on setting 1 for most of our trip and never desired more cooling. Of course, she's always been cold-blooded.

If the ass fan is the only complaint you have with your truck, consider yourself lucky. Remember the vinyl seats of the past that gave you swamp ass even in the winter?

That's an interesting perspective. My only other experience with cooled/ventilated seats is on a brand new, 2023 range rover. The range rover's cooling is terrible compared to the Tundra's. The RR's entire HVAC suite is horrible, actually.

I would love to compare against one of yalls that feel it. obviously if its the same gen, but you get the point. I had a 14/15 Ram that were miles ahead of this 17. Plus I travel for work and the Audi's, Grand Cherokees, and Durangos I rent are also miles ahead. Then the friends vehicles (big deal down in FL) are night and day in their favor.

But then again, the seats themselves are made with better material. So who knows. I am nervous and excited to tear a seat out and see what I find. Could be blocked, could be corroded, could be a million things. Based on the googling I did since this topic started today, the main difference between the Rams and Tundras are the Rams duct AC direct to the seat.

I'd say mine is about like my dad's 19 silverado, definitely a lot more flow than my moms 20 accord.

Most vehicles with this feature just have a fan in the base of the seat that sucks air down through the seat and exhausts out the bottom, that's why they are called "ventilated" in the specs, not "air conditioned" or "cooled". So how well they work is pretty much purely down to how much air they can pull, and the temp of the air in the cabin.

I'm not sure if the fan is visible or accessible, it might be worth taking a look to make sure an intake duct isn't knocked loose. That would keep the fan from pulling air through the seat.

My 2019 Expedition cooling seats worked much better than the tundra. You would get cold enough you'd want to turn the heated seats on. The tundra doesn't seem to do much and i would forget it was on if not for the noise.

What about the fan noise level?

I can stand my seats fan on 1st setting, but for 2 and 3rd speed it's a bit too noisy and I can only use it during very hot days when the (Tundra weak) AC is blowing full speed.

Does your seats fan get pretty noisy as well?

Interesting. My ass fans don't make any noticeable noise, even on level 3.

Even in the summer, my wife is never warm enough and we run the AC at a temp that is much too warm for me. The cooled seats are great! I use mine, she doesn’t. We can both be in the cab in relative comfort.
