I've got the center console insert with the three dials many of us have purchased. Locked 'er up before I went on the road... and now can't get it open. I am guessing somehow I messed up and reset the code? Unfortunately I don't have the keys with me. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

I have the same console. Never forgot the code but you may check out some videos on how to get that key unlocked using a bic pen lid. I've seen people push one in and get the gates open.

Thanks - I wonder how the code got changed? I've used it for almost two years with the same code...

Is it acting like it's locked or caught? I have a center console safe that when I rotated the dial the arm that rotates to lock the top down was catching on the opening it fit into. I had to tweak the arm down a bit so it would not catch in the slot. If this is true, it'll be tough to get to with it closed.

It was locked. The code got changed. Not sure how - but I went through each dial keeping the other ones at the old code, and sure enough the first digit was off by 3. Going slowly trying each one it opened. I guess maybe I bumped the reset button while locked and spun the dial? Bizarre. Oh well - all is well that ends well.

Wasn't too impressed with the locking mechanism. I feel like it could have used tighter tolerances, another digit on the wheel and a more secure key. Especially with what I'm sure we all store in it. Mine also came with some crazy sharp edges on the inside that required deburring. I've had the latch fall below the edge and get caught/stuck open a time or two. Excellent construction on the body though and it feels solid bolted in.

What brand and model do you have? There’s several, and fabrication (as well as price) are not equal.

So true! I'd be interested to know which one OP had.

This story is the reason I didn’t buy one with the coded dials.
