Hi.Has anyone successfully programmed a transponder key ,from the existing master, without special tools or technology? I have watched multiple videos on youtube and other forums but still cannot get it right. The new key I have is correct and matches the master (G code) but paring/matching it with the system is a nightmare.Outside of North America the Dealer wants $88 to do the work which seems a lot? Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks. (2010 Tundra Platinum)

$88 isn’t too bad. I’ve read where the dealer wanted over $300 for a new key and programming.

What is worth more to you, your time and aggravation, or the 88 dollars? If I was not successful in one try I would just pay the 88 dollars, and save myself some aggravation. You will live longer that way.

After reading and watching the various youtube videos it seems like a pretty straightforward job (doesn't it always) .Turn the ignition x times, open the door y times and bingo. Right now a quick fix and $88 looks a reasonable option.

I've done it with techStream. I watched the videos on how to do it without the software and none of them worked.

Thanks very much for that. I will order the VCI cable so that I can use Techstream in the future and stop wasting time on the videos!

I've had good luck with the cheap key blanks from Amazon and ebay but not the cheap Chinese FOBs. The two FOBs I had both had buttons that stopped working. I've since replaced them with used OEM FOBs. There's at least one person on ebay who sells them (has like 100 in stock so I'm guessing a junk yard).

I have not done it for the Tundra. But I got a new key from True Value and they cut and programmed it to my wife's CRV. $ 110 for both. I don't own a Techstream so I had been thinking of having them do one for my truck.

I have not been successful with the bootleg copy of techstream and VCI cable. The instruction is terrible and i sifted through tons of BS online to try to figure out how to make it work. i got one key programmed, then it defaulted back to not working. I've also heard the software may or may not be loaded with malware.

No, I spent a weekend getting techstream to work. While in there changed a bunch of other options, like turning off all warning chimes and beeps (very annoying when out in the wilderness trying to enjoy peace and quite.)
