Programming the new 2024 Tacoma Slim Credit Card Key Fob to a 2024 Tundra

Hey Guys! Recently purchased a new 2024 Tundra and love it, except the one key fob issue. I’ve seen on other forums that you’re able to program the new 2024 Tacoma slim card key fob to the new 2024 Tundra. I called the local dealers around where I live and they said they’ve heard of people doing it, however won’t attempt it as it’ll brick the key fob if they get it wrong. I also won’t be refunded for labor. I told them that’s fine, but they still won’t do it. They suggested calling a locksmith and having them do it. The one locksmith I called that had high google reviews for programming key fobs was pretty clueless. Anyone have any suggestions on how they completed this? Below are the required part numbers if interested as well. You need both.

@ARCOVT23 I’ve seen that listed on raveoffroad as well. If you get it online from the Toyota parts store with the parts numbers I listed you save like $100. My question was for anyone that’s had success programming it as that seems to be the issue.

 

Dealer did mine in Texas, cost was I believe 2 hours of electrical. I’ll get a picture of it when I get home

 

So this is $355 for the card and another $185 in labor? Ouch.

 

rave is a complete rip off. I paid no where near that. Card from eBay, precut key from dealer and programming I was in for maybe 350

 

Only the dealer can do it. I tried. Mine was nervous. But they did it, no issues. Same price, $185 and worth every penny. Oh… you might want to get the emergency key cut too..that’s more money…

I took mine to the dealer (Haley Toyota in Richmond VA) and they stated they hadn't seen the key before, but they would try. After about 2 hours they said no dice.
I have only the card itself without the blade.
Looking at the parts above wondering if I do not have what they need.

 

How’s this now? Any more people able to get it programed? Thinking I will buy from some of the discounted autoparts dealers online and try to have it programmed at local dealer

 

I called them today with Toyota Customer Service on the call and Haley said today they would not sell me the key and if I bought it from another source they would not be able to program it for me. My gut feeling is they just don't want to do it.

I'm here in Midlothian so it would be ideal if they could do it but no dice.

 

I'm not sure what's the point of not wanting to make money, why isn't Toyota making this officially available as working for Tundras. Makes me wonder if someone wants to buy a second one for a Tacoma, would they sell and program?

 

My local dealer programmed it and all three keys work just fine. Still haven't got a metal key cut for it yet though.

 

What was your FCC ID on your OE key and the new Smart Key?

My second key is coming so I placed an order figuring it can be done in the same trip to the dealer... Then my order got canceled, called and was told they are back ordered with no ETA.
I guess everybody wants this and they simply cant keep up with this unusual demand....

 

I bought the Tacoma CC key and programmed it myself with Techstream. Found a locksmith on FB that gave me security codes. A quick search and some locksmith forums and you'll find one.

 

2024's still only come with one key?

anyone tried using some of those services that program new keyfobs vs dealer? I need to call some of them to see if it's cheaper than dealer which is close to $200. any way to buy a techstream? would that be useful needed potentially in the feature vs paying someone to do it one time?

 

Would you please share the name of the dealer in Texas that programmed your card? I am talking with my dealer and they’ve never done one before and they say if it doesn’t work I’m still stuck with the bill.

Answering my own question, I used a car key locksmith, the second person I called said they could do it. It costed me $150 to have the master key cut and the card key programmed. It took ~30m for him to do it at my work place parking lot. So a lot more flexible than scheduling apt with the dealer.

Yes, I bought my 2024 in April and my second key just became available.

 

Hi everyone, thanks to all of your information I purchased my credit card key online from Toyota. Lakeside Toyota in Metairie, LA programed it in less than and hour. It works great!

They didn't have info on the digital key.
