Having own both 2016 and 2018 Tundras with 5.7 engine . I'm thinking it's time to upgrade to a new generation . I'm eyeing on the Limited model with TRD package
Would like to know if those owners having any thoughts about new Tundras with pros or cons ,especially with the new engine with twin turbo .
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated
    Thank you !

Yes ,I have heard some owners having problems with turbo gate ,rear differential quality control issues . But I also expect Toyota will work out the bugs as this is a brand new design within the next year or 2 .

Are you actually looking for feedback? Or will your response to every critique be "Toyota will work out the bugs as this is a brand new design within the next year or 2"?

I love my new 2023 1794! I had a 2007 and the V6 with the 10 speed is a huge "upgrade". Very smooth and nimble. The ride is surprisingly stiff with the Off Road package but not bothersome. I've only had it a week and a half. Love it so far.

Pros: better gas mileage, quiet HVAC system, twin turbo engine, quiet cabin, good build quality, looks awesome.

Cons: shitty gas mileage, HVAC system doesn't blow enough air, twin turbo engine, loud cabin, lousy build quality, worst looking truck on the market.

This new truck has so many opinions on both sides of loving and hating it. If you know the things that are objectively good or bad about it and are still interested, I say go check one out and drive it and decide for yourself.

Any particular reason why you think it’s time? If you are having problems with your truck, go for it. If you’re just bored and want the shiny new thing, I’m not sure I would suggest that you jump.

I think I would regret buying a near $70k truck that doesn’t have all the kinks worked out while supply issues still linger.

But many have no problems at all, which to me is a baseline expectation for any Toyota product.

Just seems like it’s still a bit of a roll of the dice at this point.

I just came from a 2011 DC SR5 TRD OR to a 2022 DC Limited. It was like coming out of the stone ages with tech, interior design and features and ride comfort. I have no experience towing with it yet and I have been taking it easy on the throttle while in break in. For me the downsides are the back seat is smaller....I used to keep a tool bag between the center console and the rear seat...but that no longer fits. You will hear lots of guys complaining about lack of tow hooks...never needed them in the 11 years I had the 2 Gen, but then again there was little off-roading. What I do miss the most is the interior lighting...on the new truck it is horrible and there is none in the back seat when you open the door. Crew max is probably much better if that is what you are looking at.

The interior lighting complaint is a fair one for sure. It is a massive downgrade. There’s also the issue of me still not used to the cabin light switch being in a different place. It’s been annoying the hell out of me.

An easy solution for interior lighting problem is to park under the street light pole and open up the sunroof shade, and you're all set

I liked both of my previous trucks , for power and reliability . But I also like the look of the new generation that's why I think it's time .

Tough to find street light poles to park under in the backcountry, which is where I usually am when I find myself looking for something important after dark.

    No sunroof either.;)

3rd gen is an SUV that's dressed up for Saturday night in the big city. Hold on to that Toyota 350.

You in for a ride. Now come all the, what’s the biggest tire I can fit, or why is my mpg so low, how can I redesign it for more mpg. Now the 2nd gen section won’t see as much of those posts anymore.

then what does that make our older trucks with less payload, less towing capacity?

An honest truck that has shown time and time again that it can handle anything any other half ton is rated for, IMO.

Another "Please tell me how to spend my money" thread.

Test drive and make the decision. It comes with warranty so why you worried?

I have owned several Tundra's 2 1st Gen, 3 2nd Gen, and 2 2.5 Gens and love my 3rd gen for what it's worth. Technology is why I made the jump.
