Puddle light help - installing Vleds

Hey all,

I recently replaced my Limited mirrors which had all of the features, with tow mirrors that have the same. However, they are missing the puddle lights. I purchased the VLed kit and want to tap in to the existing wires on the harness at the mirror. Does anyone know which wires on the harness at the mirror harness feed the puddle lights? I have read elsewhere that they could potentially be pins 5 & 6 but I don't' know which ones those would be.

I'm attaching a picture of the the puddle lights as well. I was assuming I could just tap into the two wires at the harness rather than have to run them all the way back to the footwell.

Beat me to it, though I would triple check the 2008 diagram before proceeding just to be 100% sure there wasn’t a change (more likely just a color change, but they’ve moved a few things around over the years).

Also, test your puddle lights to confirm which wire is the ground, since LEDs are often polarity dependent.

INSIDE the mirror it would be possible to simply tap the ground because it will be common. For the positive, you could buy terminals and crimp them and land the wire into the factory connector instead of actually tapping wires inside the door… that’s what I would do but I’m also equipped with the terminals and crimping tools at this point.

 

How are the lights once installed? Very bright?

 

They are bright. I have them in mine.
