Question about overhead console power

    Bed lined, tinted all 5 windows, hose clamped tailgate, toolbox, steps, ESP rear seat storage bins, dash cam, anytime camera switch, console safe, pop a lock for tailgate and wheels/flares, sway bar. I have Techstream if anyone local needs it.
    I'm trying to hard wire a dash cam in my 2018 Tundra. So, I'm not having any luck finding constant power, that lasts. Maybe someone here is better versed in this than I apparently am. When I had a dash cam hard wired in my 2013 Tundra, the same wires and fixture existed, for the most part, and I never had an issue with the dash cam going dark. In the 2018, there are three wires feeding the dome lights. A yellow wire which was 12v positive, a red wire which was 12v positive and a black negative. When I sit in the truck without the keys in the ignition, I have power at the yellow and red wires. However, after a certain amount of time, both lose power as the dash cam goes dark, and the battery in the dash camera dies. I've tried both the yellow and red wires, with the same results for both. So, does the ECU cut power to all overhead "things" after a given amount of time? Hopefully, someone has run into this issue and might be able to lend a hand. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows.....

    Why not just tuck the cable along the windshield and A-Pilar then run it to the fuse box?

    I pulled power up the A pillar and across for my dash camera on my 2016. I figured the amount of time I would spend chasing power in the overhead was better spent pulling power up the A pillar.

    I did the same thing with the addition of a Cellink B battery pack.

    Yep. I guess that’s what I’ll do. I am just stubborn and didn’t want this seemingly simple thing to beat me. Haha.

    Window Breakage add on Alarm,Wireless Charger. Console Safe, Rear Dif Breather Relocation, Rear Under seat Storage, Hard wire for Radar Detector, Tonnneau Cover, Brake Sensor Protection,SABM with TRD Filter, Tailgate lock, BFG's, LED Running lights.D-3 Tuner.
    I tried to tap into a few of the wires myself for a radar detector hard wire, no luck. Ended up running the wire down the pilar to the fuse box. Should have done it this way from the start and was actually easier then I thought.

    A test light/digital multimeter isn't but a few bucks at Walmart. Well, the DMM is a rad more but still cheap.

    Or, a fused line from the battery. There's a removable grommet in the gen 2's. I'd imagine there's one on the gen 3 also on the fire wall.
