I just supercharged my 2017 TRD Pro and was wanting to get a performance tune on it. Before I do that though I thought about upgrading with a cat back exhaust. I love the TRD exhaust and the way it sounds but I was wondering if I upgraded the exhaust would I see any negligible increase in horse power to make it worth the cost. Apparently Magnaflow claims a 10 percent increase in horsepower but is that a standard exhaust? Is the Pro exhaust already considered a performance exhaust? If so will it even make any difference? I know with the supercharger I’m getting plenty of positive pressure in the front end and the exhaust flow may be restricting the performance. Thanks for the input.

Whatever this forum told me to do
I run the TRD exhaust. It sounds great. I'm sure a Dirty Deeds would sound even better.

Run the most free flowing exhaust you can.

Don't concern yourself with the HP you gain from N/A applications...that's a different animal.

your 3.5" air Intake will restrict your performance long before an exhaust will.

I'm about maxing out my MAF with stage 2 Harrop ....the tuner was never concerned about exhaust.

You won’t gain anything being supercharged by switching your catback exhaust. Long tube Headers would be the only thing that may give you more peak power but may take away some bottom end. The TRD duals sounds great paired with the blower whine IMO.

I think the consensus is that long tube's are better for NA applications and more of a hinderance for superchargers.

I would reach out to Keith @dirtydeeds and have him set you up, if not....just grab the trd duals and call it a day.

Hey OP, if you are doing supercharger, leave exhaust alone for now, do it after the supercharger, and add x pipe.

I still have the TRD catback, but have added x pipe and long tube headers, I'll probably update it to 3" through out later and do a one side exit.

What do you gain from this? Any hp gain? Can you elaborate on what the x pipe does?

Thanks for the input thus far. I am very happy with the trd exhaust. I just thought it might be restricting me. Sounds like that may not be the case. I read on another forum that the trd exhaust was made by magnaflow. Can anyone confirm this?

X pipe get rid of the helicopter drone and remove so called low rpm torque loss with TRD exhaust, a nice tune will probably be cheaper than exhaust and yield more power.

magnuson supercharger 3" Long Headers & aFe Cat Back Electric cutouts
Kinda late to the party here as I was looking for info on another issue. However the supercharger & exhaust issue always draws my attention.

I have 3" long tube headers with AFE Catback. I also added electric cutouts which allows the exhaust to dump out right after the long tube headers. I have to be honest that it sound wickedly gnarly and draws a ton of stares at the gas pump when I toggle the cut outs to open and hit the gas. It's stupid loud and AWESOME! I laugh all the time when someone freaks out and quivers. However, the fun stops there. I lose a lot of back pressure and HP. I also somewhat regret getting rid of the 2" TRD Pro exhaust system as I noticed a drop in performance going to 3" pipes all the way through. But I also agree that there is too much positive pressure under the hood and is very loud up front with the 2" tubes. That said, I suppose it's worth considering 2.5" or a reducer somewhere.

But I totally enjoy the exhaust cutouts when revving up against a 5.0 Ford Mustang!

Keith @dirtydeeds is going to be the best exhaust guru to ask. He's done lots of work and testing and can explain what does and doesn't work. Bonus, he's awesome enough he'll do it even if you're not buying anything from him. He's good people.

Speaking of 5.0 Mustangs... The first 'x-pipe' that I am aware of came about when guys in the late 80s were trying to increase TQ/HP from 1,800 to 3,000 rpms in their 5.0s and supposedly had good success w/an X-pipe using the same philosophies
