Hello all. Today I did the OEM LED headlight upgrade on my 2017 SR5. I bought them second hand so I’m not sure what brand harness was used. I originally installed them and changed the turn signal bulb harness pinning by switching the purple and white/black wires in the harness. I did that since the Headlight Revolution video said it was needed for the turn signals to work.
After doing that, the turn signals did not work. I pulled my hair out a while and then asked the previous owner who had them on his 2015 1794, he said he didn’t change the pinning on his and it was fine.
After hearing that I pinned the wires back how they originally were and now they work but I’m not sure they are doing what they should be. With the headlights OFF the amber turn signal bulbs stay on like a DRL just like the old halogen headlights did. They do blink properly as turn signals/hazards. They appear to go off or be very dim with the headlights on. Can those with these headlights comment on if the amber lights are doing what they should be based on the photos?

Also Somewhat unrelated: I know the LED strips along the outside aren’t lit, I have a Headlight Revolution harness to make them work. Of course the fuse tap where they are powered from in the main fuse/relay box is already being occupied by an add a fuse to bring on my supercharger intercooler pump with ignition on…still have to figure out how I can power both off of one fuse location.

Yes, the DRL is supposed to dim when the headlights are on. While they are dim, they should brighten when the signals are on.

IHacker has the best harness for this upgrade IMO. I would buy his harness and install to get everything working like you want...keep amber or delete etc.

Since @Triton19X2 mentioned it, let's tag @iHacker and he can give you his harness functions/options. I don't recall what they are as I have Morimoto XB's.

Ok thanks for the reply! It seems they are working properly then. I was thrown for a loop because everywhere I read and saw videos that the turn signal bulb harness had to have the 2 wires swapped, but apparently not in my case. I’m not sure what’s different in my case. Do most that do the upgrade perform the mod that deletes the amber DRL when the headlights are turned off? I assume the newer trucks that have the LED headlights factory installed only use the top and bottom LED strips as DRLs and the ambers are only for turn signals?

My next issue is, I don’t know how to go about tapping the DRL harness into my ignition fuse since I’m already using an Add-A-Fuse tap on that fuse spot to power my intercooler pump. I can’t imagine I should piggyback the add-a-fuse adapters
