I installed a REDARC Tow-Pro Liberty a couple weeks ago and finally got around to hooking up my trailer last week. Unfortunately I had no trailer brakes. I'm trying to track down whether the problem is with the trailer or the controller. I'm using the Brake Controller Harness (TPH-021) from REDARC. here are my observations:
    1. With the trailer not hooked up, I get a BLUE Breathing (pulse) when the Override button is pushed, nothing else.
    2. With the trailer hooked up, I get the same BLUE Breathing (pulse) when the Override button is pushed, which according to the REDARC manual means the trailer brakes have not been detected OR the trailer is not plugged in.
    3. The manual states that "Active Calibration constantly monitors the vehicle’s direction of travel and allows the Tow-Pro® Liberty to ‘learn’ and continuously confirm its mounting orientation. This process occurs whilst the vehicle is
moving and the brake is applied and will occur with or without a trailer connected, for most vehicles." This did not occur that I ever saw.

My question is this: when you are not connected to a trailer, is the pulse normal? Is there no indication that the brakes are being pressed etc? If that is the case, then I suppose I can eliminate a bad controller. Does the controller button do its various color LEDs only when a trailer with electric brakes is detected?

I do have one of those 7 blade connector testers in there and there is no response on the electric brake LED other than a very faint flickering. but maybe that is normal if the controller doesn't detect the brakes. I picked up the trailer from my parents and they said the brakes worked, but that is no guarantee that is true.

    Ideas welcome.

thanks for the info. I did find my camper brake had a severed wire and when I fixed that it seems to clear everything up for me. The fading blue light is normal with nothing connected,
    Cheers!
