Ive got all my suspension parts in and Im still on the fence about my tires. Ive got Toytec Aluma 2.5 kit with Coachbuilder +3 JBA UCAs and RCI skid to go in. I like the look of the 295 but from what I searched it seems they rub the sway bar at full lock with the TRD pro wheels at +60mm offset. My other option has been a wildpeak at3w in 275/70 that I can get 5 installed for just a little over 1300 and Im sure the spare would still fit. Just feel like its going to look a little light in the feet with a 3/1.75 lift. Are there any tires in 295 that are confirmed to not rub the sway bar?

With the 295 tires - I would be looking at the offset and how to change that, whether it is spacers or different rims.

Yeah that seems to be whats going to kill the 295s for me. I really dont want to run spacers.

Here are some pics of 275/70 with lift- https://www.tundras.com/threads/lift-on-275-70-18.21756/

What i have seen here, the rub on the sway bar with 295s is minimal- rubs the paint on the bar a bit but not bad enough to cause any issue with the tires or the front bar. Some folks had added one inch wheel spacers for extra clearance, but adding wheel spacers or lower offset wheels can make it rub other places. LOTS written about all this in the suspension forum here.

285/70s are an option but few tires in that size, Nitto RG being the best probably. Or 285/75- thinner than the 295 and a bit taller, have seen all of those sizes on tundras with 2-2.5 lift.

FWIW, i run 275/70s, stock truck. Just purchased a 2.5 suspension and will be rocking the 275/70s with that once I can get the suspension installed, at least for a while. Check the pics I linked, and there are others here if you search (upper right).

295/70r18 makes the tundra look normal, I had 285/65r18 and they looked tiny with a 2/1” lift. I do have to run 1” bora wheel spacers up front, but imo you’ll want to do that anyways as the front suspension tucks in a lot after increasing ride height.

I've read through threads for nights trying to make my mind up. Not many people running 275s on 3in, mostly levels and bilsteins. What info I do get on 295s with the bbs seem to be split between no rub and rub on Sway bar. May just hold onto the suspension stuff until later on in the trucks life and just stay stock with 275s. Checked into 285/70s and not really liking the idea of paying 1600$ for half an inch taller tire.

Any know where the sweet spot is on wheel offset to do away with the sway bar rub and avoid spacers?

The 295's are worth it. I've been running 1.25" spacers and have wheeled the truck plenty with no issues at all. Torque specs completely unchanged on the bolts after 10k miles. Otherwise you will need aftermarket wheels with a lower offset, like at least +25 from what i remember from the guys that run Methods etc. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. These trucks perform and look best with at least a 34" tire imo.

It’s not the sway bar rub but the skid plate.

+25 offset will clear the skid but you’ll still rub a little on fender liner and will need to lose the mud flap and it’s mainly due to the width.

295/70 with +25 will fit on stock height without a lift.

Running 295 Ridge Grapplers with PRO BBS wheels which have the +60 offset. Never had issues with rubbing the sway bar. I did have to trim the skid plate however. Thus the reason for the narrower TRD PRO skid plate. I will say that you are very close to the UCA but no issues. Love my 295s and highly recommend that size with a level.

I have the 18” method 701s +25mm offset with 295/70/18 Toyo AT3s and 5100s on top setting. I can confirm no rub at all with front mud flaps removed.

What do I need to do to fit 35X12.5 next?

From the pictures Ive seen the swaybar is the only thing that ive seen people complain about rubbing at full lock. Skid plate wont be an issue as I have the RCI to replace it. Just need a free day.

What do you guys running 295s do for a spare? I have heard they wont fit with Coachbuilders, do they fit with smaller profile shackles?

For the spare you’ll need to remove the spare guides attached to the frame by getting rid of the rivets. Took about 15 mins to drill them out but would have been much easier with air chisel that I didn’t have.

It probably won’t work with coach builder shackles. Best bet is ToyTec. I have aftermarket Ironman shackles so I can’t confirm any other shackles but 295/70 fits.

For the actual spare tire, go to a tire shop that sells used tires and get a 295/70 mounted on the spare rim for $45. It’ll most likely never get used and even if it did, you’ll use it temporarily, so who cares if it’s used.

I have an old tire from my old 295/70 set but it’s on aftermarket wheel that has +18 offset that I picked up really cheap as my spare. You probably could run the factory spare rim with 295/70 but it’d be best used on the rear with that offset so you won’t have upper control arm clearance issues.

    Have you considered 285/75/18?

Those will fit on the stock wheel without spacers and clear very well, because they are slightly narrower then the 295s

I guess I assumed being so close to 35" that it would need some modification. Im not against a narrower tire. a 285 would be fine.

Also noticed you mentioned a spare. A 285/75 will fit on the spare rim, and fits in the stock location with a simple removal of two guide brackets.

i can snap some photos tomorrow of my UCA and skid plate. The UCA won’t be the same because I have stock ones, but the measurements should help.

My shackles are going to be an issue there. I went with the Coachbuilders and they are beefy to say the least.

Thanks for the pic! What offset are you running? You running shims on top of the bilsteins? What modification was required to fit?

I am running factory wheels. Same offset as you. No shims. Bilsteins are set on the middle setting. No wheel spacers either. No bumper modifications. Removal of the little front little mudflap was all that was necessary.

Would a sway bar drop bracket help with the sway bar rub at full lock or make it worse ?

    Working on it :-)
I run 295/70/18 with same size spare and have the CB +2's, also have TRD exhaust with no issues.

Sorry just realized this is an old post.
