Alright gentlemen just a heads up this thread will be a little pic heavy. I'm currently in the process of deleting the chrome off of my quicksand tundra and I'm down to the grille and bulge section. One option was buying a paint matched assembly and bulge, but I cant see paying $600-$800 for plastic. However, I thought about wrapping the items and came across a company out of Florida (not colorlabs) that has a color that almost a dead on match. So you guys tell me how well does this match with the rest of the truck and should I pull the trigger and try to wrap it. I put three sample pieces on the truck (bulge, Lower grille, and end cap) to see how well it looked

Close BUT not exact. Same thing with painting the parts. This color SUCKS to match. We got my fender flares as close as possible but it’s still not 100% match. Color changes shades so when you think you have it dead on. U see it in the shade and it’s off. Doesn’t look bad but I have heard that color match vinyl isn’t cheap.

Hood bulge, it looks lighter, surround, it looks darker & bumper looks like a good match! My OCD would never get over the differences that I see.

I’ve never wrapped before so the technique I go with will be a wing and a prayer and hope for the best. But I will keep you all updated on how it goes.

I tried to wrap the hood bulge on the fj. Epic fail. Got the hood done no problem so I was feeling it but no dice for me.

Bringing up a dead thread here, I’d like to know the outcome of your wrap discussion? I was quoted $800 at my local wrap shop to do a chrome delete, and that’s not including the grille… I found the wrap on APA, the one they say is a quicksand match is called “gloss sandstorm” it’s pretty affordable, $40 for a 5’x3’ section. Plus $40 more to ship…

Anybody else have any experience with wrapping their chrome?
