Their new motor is an inline 6. The V8 is coming back as part of a salvage campaign to retain customers after being horribly mismanaged by Stellantis group management. The V8 will have another run, and then likely get discontinued again anyway. And no, Toyota is not bringing back the V8.

It’s a “give the customers what they want”. Even if the customers don’t understand the companies direction. Especially when the company doesn’t understand the companies direction.

I heard one youtuber speculate it was actually to lower the cost of their trucks a bit, as the new I6 Hurricane was significantly more expensive to produce and Ram wasn't capturing the lower priced market well. GM and Ford sell much more of the cheaper base models than Ram

The question is how are they bypassing the epa standards that supposedly caused Toyota to shelf the v8?

I had a 2022 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 e-torque gimmick thing. I liked it, but it was a dog compared to this 3.4TT/hybrid.

I had a 2019 Ram Sport. I liked the truck and the interior was nice, but I started having transmission issues around 55k kilometers. The rear wheels would lock up returning to 2 wheel drive from 4H or 4wd auto. That was enough for me to get rid of it before the warranty ran out.

Dodge should stick to selling race cars to poor people at $800/month for like 500 months.

It’s because the 5.7 hemi has auto stop start and cylinder deactivation.

and the fact that this was just announced as the EPA announced walking back some of their policies on consumer vehicles... may have something to do with it.

I had 1 +90k and 2 +100k rams and had no issues outside of a recall or two. but they were all great trucks. I am hoping they can get their shit back together again before I need to upgrade payloads. I really want the power wagon.

Ram screwed the pooch when they tried to price their trucks through the roof. They were always a value brand not a high end brand.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    they didn't ask me, but:

    1. Put the TRX motor in a "normal" 4x4 1/2 ton. it would sell
    2. Ford should do the same..put the Raptor R motor in a 4x4 Lariat 1/2 ton.
    3. Chevy should do similar. except, they don't have a decent motor.

Those items would not sell big volume, but it would get the brand recognized

a decent 1/2 ton should be reliable and cost ~$50k. <<<that's the problem.

and when are we gonna delete the EPA?

    dudes want a decent engine.

and most dudes don't want all those stickers and shit on the truck

or the raised suspension or large tires.

EX - we can order the F150 with the FP700 pkg (~$12k) it's the ideal upgrade.

Toyota had V8 cylinders deactivation, the best one: all cylinders deactivate after 38 gallons of run time.

There's a reason for why life expectancy is getting higher and higher, right? If you never experienced it yourself, I can tell you air quality in some sh!t holes is literally unbreathable. It's like smoking two packs of cigarettes every day. You, your wife, your kids, your dog, everyone, besides your parents, who died of lung cancer at age of 60.

Forcing car drivers to "upgrade" to pickup trucks with sizes blown out of proportion is the EPA failure. Driving a small commuter car that is reliable, not as efficient as EPA wants it to be, but still polluting air much less than any truck is how it should be.

ya, while the EPA is not perfect by any means, we do need it.

as someone who has spent their entire life in that field (private sector), I can tell you that we would not want to see a country with no EPA

forget about fishing, breathing, and hunting, or eating clean food.

we do remediation, clean up the mess once made and I can tell you there is some nasty shit out there.

PFAS is coming next, we are trying to figure out how to deal with it as we speak.

Sure. Imagine you want a commuter car, and you can't buy one, because EPA made them outlaw.

    disagree again.

    I agree with the premise.

my contention is....Let's VOTE on it.

Chevon Deference was the culprit & Gov went too far.

    I don't need or want a Gov agency telling me I can't have a V8 Ram.
