    Hi All,

New to the forum and currently have a 19 Raptor and after seeing a new TRD Pro at the dealer last week while picking up my wife's new ride 24 Crown Platinum I kinda like the looks of the Pro. So been reading some threads here and finally joined as I like to research most buys before just jumping in. I need to go drive a Pro if possible or at least a Platinum or Limited to see how they ride.

So just looking for some input from anyone that might of made the move.

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Lots of information about the new trucks here. Beware, it's fairly new and there's been some bugs, so do research before you buy!

The pro is not a raptor. Its a really nice truck but its definitely not the same

Thanks and yes I've been doing some research and will continue before buying anything. I'm in no rush and who knows might wait until later on this year or even for 2025 models.

With the gen 3 raptor prices falling, the TRD Pro is a tough buy. I have a 22 raptor on 37s and the tundra is no where near the raptor in build quality and ride. If I had to buy one, raptor for sure. Tundra has more quirks, rattles, and overall less refined. I've driven a trd pro on kings mid way through a run and the stock gen 3 raptor is head and shoulders ahead.
As for which one is still fresh after 100k miles, that's up in the air.

A few... Definitely more than 2
    @DrZoidberg

Don't think he had a TRD pro but he has definitely had both a Raptor and 3rd gen tundra and that might be as close as you get

Ford Motor co. would disagree with you here ^^. They've openly said they are chasing the Tundra level of build quality and have never been able to achieve it.

Ride? yeah, no comparison. Raptor is basically long travel from the factory. Pro is baby mid travel, if that's really even a thing.

I’ve had a Gen 2 TRD pro, Gen 3 hybrid platinum, Gen 3 TRD pro, and Gen 3 raptor.

To OP Gen 3 raptor > Gen 3 TRD Pro > Gen 2 raptor.

I would take the new TRD pro over the prior Gen raptors for sure. So if that’s the debate then yes.

I'd echo this sentiment if technology is your focus. I've had Gen1, 2, and 3 Raptors as well as Capstone Tundra and several trips in TRD PRO Tundra.

The Gen2 Raptor is still superior to the TRD PRO off road in my experience, even with leaf springs. But the TRD Pro is more comfortable daily driver for sure. If you can swing the Gen3 price there's no comparison, it's head and shoulders better than Gen2 Raptor or TRD Pro in my experience. I've had 1 Gen 3 with 37PP and now one with 35's and it's the best of both worlds to me.

You'll be in a great rig now matter what you choose.

To the OP, a lot of early posting here by people who don't own a GEN3 or a GEN3 Pro, so take that into account as the prior GEN owners like to shit on the newer truck, no idea why.

The Pro is not going to handle whoops and off-roading anywhere near a Raptor, but not sure where there are trails east of the Mississippi that you could really test it out. I haven't had any issues in 27,000 miles on my '22 Pro, aside from a bad alignment by the factory, read the threads on here. Get 35'' tires and the Pro will look right, the small stock tires suck. My truck has been great. It will tow more than a Raptor and do truck stuff better, it will do everything I need it do off-road. Its been dependable, and that's why I bought a Toyota.

And how many Raptor's have you owned? If you want to discredit people for not owning the vehicles being compared (currently) then hopefully you've owned a Gen 2 and 3 Raptor for your comparison.

Thanks for the replies so far all. Yeah my truck is Gen 2 Raptor and living in Maryland it is a pavement queen/daily driver not many places to take off road in my area. I'm also into dirt bikes so I do my off road play on them, much cheaper to repair if I break it. So it's a daily driver and I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it or move to a Gen 3 or the TRD Pro. The prices of the Gen 3's are more than I paid for my Gen 2 and I'm not crazy about paying them. The TRD Pro is about what I paid for my Gen 2 when I purchased it and who knows maybe I can find a deal with a little bit off. After looking over the 24 White TRD Pro I'm thinking if that thing drives and rides nice I could toss some new tires on it maybe rims and call it a day and have a new daily driver. If it doesn't then just keep what I have until I get the urge again.

I have read some of to post about issues in the new Tundra's but it seems like Toyota is stepping up and making the repair/fix so if I do end up in one and it has one of those issues hopefully it won't be an issue to get resolved.

Guess I need to get out and drive one. Also never owned a hybrid vehicle not sure if that will be a good thing or bad HAHAHA if I make it to one.

Yeah I think the TRD Pro fits your use case perfectly. I know you won't be disappointed. The transmission in the Tundra is such a huge upgrade from the 10R80 in the Gen 2 it will feel like night and day.

Post up some pics when you get it!

The Gen 3 rsptor pricing used to be comparable to TRD pro pricing. TRD pros were marked up and most raptors were easily findable at MSRP so it was a no brainer at MSRP. Gen 3 raptors can be found at MSRP and under still buy TRD pro can be too. So the gap is a little tighter (that’s what she said)

Both will get you to starbucks and your kids soccer game just fine. Raptor has the better parking lot bragging rights, though.

    Just kidding, maybe.

How are you going to use it? A stock Wrangler is better off-roading in many conditions, not all, but doesn't have the bragging rights of a Raptor or TRD pro.

Are you going to keep it a long time or trade it before warranty is up? Use it as car or a truck? Tow?

Agree the gap is much tighter between Gen 3 Raptors and TRD Pro now. Lots are full and dealers are actually having to work to sell trucks again.

cmiles97 - if you think I can afford starbucks and a Raptor or TRD Pro you must think I'm rich HAHAHAHA Don't have kids so no college funds so I might be able to swing either truck. Sorry not a Wrangler guy and save the dirt fun for my dirt bikes.

So I'm getting ready to retire at the end of May unless I change my mind so hopefully the truck I end up with will be one I hold onto for a while but I'm sure something might come along that I just have to have, it's a weakness of mine when it comes to trucks and bikes but still cheaper than exchanging wife's oftern LOL

I could be doing some light towing in the future nothing crazy but yeah my trucks get used as trucks for hauling stuff and just driving like a normal truck.

I located a TRD Pro near me so hope to get out to dealer Friday or Sat. and take it for a test drive then I'll know more about which way I'm leaning or if I have to have a TRD Pro.
