Raptor vs Long travel

    I’m new here so I don’t know how the forum works, just posted the same thread under 1st gen before noticing this… This may have already been discussed but here I am… any advice is appreciated.

    I have an 03 tundra 4x4 limited. I off-road all the time and love ripping down fire roads. my mid travel kit is just not enough anymore. I have the option to get an extremely clean ford raptor 5.4 with around 140k miles for 19k. You probably know where I’m going with this…

    Tundra is worth about 10, and I could be in the raptor for 9k. The other Part of me wants to go long travel with the tundra, either total chaos, camburg, solo, dirt king, mcm fab etc.. there’s a lot. My question is would I be able to reliably long travel my truck for about 6-7k including rear deavers & 2.5’s and still daily drive it? Anymore than 7.5k I might as well just go for raptor. I commute a lot for work but also absolutely hall ass on the weekends off-road. Do these long travel kits squeak? that would drive me crazy. Besides the lt kit is there anything else I would need besides fenders and extended axels? Do I need bypasses? And would it be able to hang with a raptor off-road. I am not new to modding/upgrading, I know when doing an extreme aftermarket upgrade it normally turns into a rabbit hole of supporting mods. That is exactly what I do not want, I already have an e39 m5 supercharged that is far beyond stock. I’d like to throw this LT kit on and be done for around 7.5k including rear deavers and 2.5’s, is this realistic or am I dreaming?

    King 3.0 front Coilovers with TC UCA King 3.0 rear Bypass shocks
    My 2 cents coming from someone who has #1 owned a 1st Gen raptor, #2 owned a second Gen long travel Tacoma, and #3 currently own a 2nd Gen mid travel tundra on 3.0 kings…. I can say yes a long travel build no matter what you do, I.e. spring under, bypasses, Heim joints, trailing arms ect… it will affect daily driving and be noisy and require a lot of maintenance. It all depends on how much you offroad. Now for the Raptor thing… been there done that. It’s really not that badass of a rig from factory. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice and that 6.2 is very powerful but the stock fox factory 2.5 shocks aren’t a whole lot off a king 2.5 oem coilover or shock. My 2nd Gen tundra with king 3.0s feels better offroad and on road compared to my ole raptor. In conclusion whatever you do as far as money wise and putting that into a build vs buying something built with long travel I would recommend buying something already done . Save the mulahhhhhh $$$$$
