I bought a Tundra a bit ago that has the RCD 4"-6" lift. It's set at the 6" lift setting. I've looked into it a bit and am a little confused as to the 6" lift claim. When you buy the kit, you only get 4" blocks for the rear. Is it really a 6" lift or is it just a 4" lift with the option to level the front? Just an observation I've never really been able to square.

The claim is that you can set the front to 4". By what you said, if I could really get a 4" lift wouldn't I need 2" blocks for the back?

I have a 2002 tundra with the rcd 6” lift. I purchased without front blistering coilovers. I ordered the icon extended travel coilovers that are made for this lift. They offer adjustment that bilstein does not. Kind of expensive but worth the price for me. I plan to keep my truck long time

I don't think that's how it is. There are no two kits. There's only one kit and the 4" vs 6" of lift is determined by where you install the retention plate on the Bilstein. What you do to the rear is the same, either way.

I wanted the better coilover, so I did the research and got the icons with more adjustability. Worked for me, but do what your budget allows. The icons are around$ 1,400 depending if they are on sale

Seems like we still haven’t cleared anything up. The reason I’m interested is I’d like to get rid of the blocks and get new springs. With the new springs, I’d like to go with 63” Chevy springs. I’m also going to go with a shackle flip and am wondering what size lift I need to be looking for in the Chevy springs. The way it’s looking, I need 4” of lift in back, not six, even though I have the front set at 6” of lift.

Why you want to put Chevy springs on a toyota? I used to have a hot rod 1968 CAMARO, so i have worked on chevys my whole life. You can get used springs from junkyard or can order springs that will fit from many companys

I’m thinking it’s what you stated in your original post, 4” lift in the front if you want to retain factory rake with the 4” lift in the rear, and 6” lift in the front if you want the more leveled look with the 4” lift in the rear.

So if you’re wanting to change out springs and keep the 4” lift in the front, but keep a leveled look and not factory rake, then yes you would want to only have your rear raised 2” and not 4”.

The chevy 63 is a popular swap for the tacomas, but i think the gen 1 tundra springs are already 63 or longer

The shackle flip is a great option for you. Probably combine it with a new spring pack and youll be golden

I'm not the most knowledgeable on the subject but, the Chevy springs are wider, by 0.25" to 0.5", and I've heard they ride better and carry a load better. I'd have to confirm if the 1st Gen springs are already 63".

Kind of. I want to keep the 6" of lift in the front so, I'm pretty sure at this point, I need to target 4" of lift in the back.

So I have a ruff country 5" lift on my 03 tundra atm and I'd like to change it out and go bigger. Does anybody have any ideas? I'm thinking rcd 6" should be taller than the ruff country 5". Any ideas would be great

I'm asking because each lift is different and they are not necessarily true to the size.
