Thank you TakiEvo, interesting how you torque the nut on the front and the bolt on the rear. I would have torqued the nut on both sides. Could you post the procedure for the front prop shaft?

Hey everyone. I'm a new member here, but not necessarily new to mechanical work on vehicles.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned these issues with 2022 gen 3 tundras, but the periodical checking of the propeller (rear) shaft is due to improper heat treated bolts, from Toyotas supplier. Especially 4x4 tundras.

Second is the rear axle flange nuts being improperly tightened from the factory, which has been causing separation from the axle. Torque specs for those are 70 ft lbs x 4 per side.

So does the driveshaft need to be retorqued?

From the attached pdf it appears that you're talking about the driveshaft bolts that connect to the third member flange and the transfer case flange. It's a bolt, nut and washer that joins the two round flanges to each other. Get two open end wrenches the same size as the bolt and nut and tighten them down as best you can. I don't think there is a way to get a torque wrench on there unless your possibly using a claw foot which will mean you need to calculate the offset of the claw foot into the torque reading.

so it would be the 4 bolt that connect the shaft to the tranny or the differential?

Propeller shaft? Next thing you know we'll be doing pre-flight inspections and checking the air pressure in the landing gear tires. ;-)

I know what this is all about. We had the same maintenance issue on our 2nd Gen Tacomas. Also, just a good joke opportunity.

That, too. But there was also a stand-alone retorque item, IIRC. I think I did it once in the 15 years I owned mine. And it really didn't need it.

Thanks sound like what I had in mind. I'll give them a litele check, never know if they could be louse but I feel that if they are tight I don't see the point of checking them every 10k mill.

Yeah, I think I finally checked mine at about 10 years into the 15 years I owned my 2009 Tacoma. After I did, I asked myself why did I bother? LOL.
