Really need some creativity for mounting this camera

So I've purchased a dashcamx, and installed the front 4k cam. I ran the wire for the rear cam, and now I just need to mount the camera. I was thinking I needed some sort of clip, that has spring to it, so I can clip it over the headliner (which is not completely flat, so that's one challenge) and them slide the camera over the exposed side of the clip, holding it in place in the least evasive way possible. The camera has a gap between it and its swiveling platfor., which only swivels 90 degrees. I also bought 1 inch cable clamps , in hopes I could flatten it and then put a bolt and nut through the hole and the 2 holes on the top of the mounting plate. But I wouldn't be able to hold the nut still behind the liner when tightening. So yeah. I'm out of ideas and menards employees didn't offer much. So here I am. Broken. Humbled. Help.

Mounted inside your 3rd brake light/cargo light? Interesting! Can you share more details on how you did it?

In a nutshell I drilled a hole in the brake light, dropped the headliner, removed the 3rd brake light, took out the middle light and mounted the camera there. Rank the wires and connected my new “smart Rearview mirror”. I’m not saying I’m the least talented person on this forum, but I’m close. Basically if I can figure this one out, anyone can. The brake light cover needs to be tidied up. Mine is very crude and rudimentary.

Awesome. They didn't have 1 inch in black so I got 2inch for it. Hopefully that'll be fine

It'll just hang a bit lower is all, or you could trim it shorter. Black wasn't in stock when I ordered so I went with the gray, didn't match the camera but it matches the interior. I cut a notch in the metal bracket to match the bracket on the camera, fits nicely together but it's not necessary. I also felt the camera was pointed a little up once it was installed in the truck so I bent the drop section of the metal bracket towards the front of the truck a bit, not much, just enough to angle the camera how I wanted it.

I second the recommendation of “ The dash cam store” bracket. I experience no vibration on video imaging. Simple and effective . Easy to install

I zip tied mine to the metal hook for the child seat tether under the center headrest.

Meso made some molle style roof racks that rand from oh shot handle to oh shit handle in the tacos.

Could you shape something to go across the same way and mount your bracket to it? It'd be reusing the handle mounting points, so no drilling.

For those who are curious. The 2 inch is too long and needs to be cutting or it will press into your back window. I guess I'm the first to buy the 2inch? I

Just bend the bracket forward towards the windshield a little, that'll keep it off the rear glass, I did this with the 1in drop bracket also

    Some.
My rear cam shorted, so it isn't there at the moment. But, I made an aluminum bracket and riveted it to the headliner with stainless washers on the back. Use a grommet to make the hole look presentable.

Pulling down the rubber gasket. Placing the mount inside the crevice where the rubber gasket goes. Then shoving the rubber gasket back up into the area. That simple.
