Ive got a set of S2 lights for my rear C4 bumper and am trying to figure out if I want to wire them to reverse/switch or just a switch. Those of you who use the lights with a back up camera, do they help or hinder?

I would go for the combination honestly. I have my Rigids wired to an on-off-reverse. I can turn them on at any time, turn them off completely, or have them come on with reverse trigger.

Thats the way I was going initially. I upgraded the reverse lights and license plate lights shortly after getting the truck and the camera had better visibility before.

I found a old post where someone tied into the reverse wire in the engine bay to a relay and to be honest Im not 100% sure how that works. I didnt know if you could overide the reverse lights if you wanted to? If any of that makes any sense. I can turn a wrench, but my wiring skills are lacking.

I had some cubes wired to my reverse lights on my bed rack for extra back up light they worked great.

tapped into the reverse light on the tails.

My Rigid SRM-Pros actually came with the on-off-reverse harness. You tap the reverse circuit at the tail light.

I’ve got S1 flush lights in my OEM rear bumper, and they don’t have any negative effect on my backup camera. Only good things, as I can really see what’s up back there now.

Switching is a hair above average, as I like it two ways. They come on all the time when I shift into reverse, but can also be turned on via aux switch.

To do this, I used a 5-pin relay as follows:

pin 87A: tie into the trailer light plug’s reverse light wire. I believe it is the blue wire in the center of the trailer plug.

pin 30: run this to the lights’ positive leads.

pin 86: run the to ground.

pins 85 & 87: tie these together with a short jumper and then run to your switched power (auxiliary switch).

Wiring this way will keep your aux power completely separated from your OEM lighting circuits. When no power is put to the relay via aux switch, the 87A and 30 pins are connected so your lights are part of the OEM backup lighting circuit. Flip your switch, and the relay swaps over to the 87 and 30 pins being connected. Since it pulls off of 87A, you’re now disconnected from OEM circuits.

thanks a lot for the write up. I’m going to go this route. The holidays and 3 days of adding parts to the truck have drained me. Only the wiring left and I’ve lost motivation out of exhaustion lol.

Mine are switch wired so I can turn them on with the truck parked and off. Handy for working, loading, etc. Just hit the switch when going into reverse.
