I am placing a camperunit in the back of my Tundra. For that I need to remove the tailgate.
I like to put a camera on the back of my camperunit and connect it to the camera connector under the tailgate. So I can use it when reversing.

Does somebody know what kind of camera can I use for that and which connector I need?

Found that thread but this is about the camera behind the cabine.
I want to replace the camera from the tailgate with another camera on my camper.

You can only use Toyota cameras, to work with this headend. You can't even swap locations of these cameras or it won't work.

You can remove camera from the tailgate, buy extender wire from @GG.Offroad and find a way to install that tailgate camera into your camper.

Great to hear that. I assume I can buy new Toyota tailgate camera and fix it on my camper unit so I can switch between camper unit and tailgate.
But I understand that their are no after market camera's for sale?

that won’t work, camera is tied to the truck and coded in- can’t swap between 2. Easiest solution is the gg kit and extension cord, remove the camera when swapping to secondary location

Really? So what do we do if camera gets damaged and we buy same part number replacement? It should work? Right?

I believe it needs to be programmed to the truck and no one has found out how to do it via tech stream yet, so it’s probably very complicated but doable

Do you happen to have source for this? Or did you hear from someone?

These Toyota cameras seem to be some sort of HD cameras with Proprietary video signal, but I would be surprised if they somehow configure every camera - they're too small for that, and such complexity is not really necessary

I read it in one of the threads here, it may have been by @GG.Offroad

It makes it very difficult for Toyota to deal with damaged camera's.
Can somebody help me with the part number of the camera, so I can order one and test it?

This is the rear brake light camera that looks at the tailgate.

It may not work if you try to plug it into the tailgate rear camera. I tried swapping the rear mirror and bed overview cameras and those ones didn't work when swapped.
