This is my 4th Crewmax and it's not very often that we need the rear center seat but the seat belt is either terrible or malfunctioning. It always locks and my kids fight not to sit in that seat. Anybody else have this problem??? My 2010 with sliding rear seats was the bomb!!, no problems, 2014 no problems but my 2018 has this issue???

I think it locks on purpose, so it can be used with infant car seats.

    Thanks for the reply silverhack.
2021 CrewMax doing the same thing. My 2017 Crewmax did not have this issue. Dealer service department sat in my 2021, tried the belt, then sat in other 21s on the lot. Supposedly they all functioned the same and this normal. They told me it was to assist in locking in the car seats. I have to disagree but I guess I am a stupid owner and not a technician. I am tempted to buy a factory replacement and install it. Then if it still does it they were right.

My wife has been complaining about the middle seat as well and says that it constantly locks up. She then has to unbuckle the seatbelt and re-adjust. I asked the dealer to look at it and they told me that there were no issues with it as well.

I’ve sat in that seat in my 18. Had many occupants. No complaints.

If the seat belt gets pulled out far enough it will engage the safety lock for child safty restraints. The middle seat belt on the newer tundras seems to be slightly shorter than the drivers and passenger side ones so it doesn’t take as much to engage the locking mechanism. The seat belt will then have to be retracted all the way and pulled out again trying not to pull it to far out or the locking mechanism will be engaged again. It’s annoying for the middle passenger especially if they are a larger person. Just leaning forward will engage it.

Can anyone point to a link for a seatbelt extender that works with a 2020?
